I've been pulling my hair out trying to get the Google Backup Cloud sync working. Both devices say that it's available but when I go to my dashboard I don't see Star Traders Elite listed though my other Trese Brothers games are. I've tried various iterations of clearing data and uninstalling/reinstalling to no avail. Are there log files I can see anywhere that might explain what's going on? I'm reluctant to get to into a new captain without the backup.

Jim: welcome to the forum! I'm not a dev(or anything like that) but just to do a bit of information gathering: what are you trying to do, exactly? (as in which buttons, pressed when, etc) do you have screenshots? Where do "Both devices say that it's available" (whats "it's", and where does it say that it's available?) Which dashboard are you referring to? Cheers!

@jim - that cloud backup service is kind of famously a pain. Can you post your device type and Android OS version?

Thanks guys. In hindsight it looks like I left out some important details.
My devices are a Galaxy S5 (4.4.2) and a Galaxy Tab 3 (4.4.2). Neither device is rooted. Both devices say "Cloud Backup Services ARE available." when I click on the Cloud Backup button under Roster. My Google Dashboard shows Star Traders 4X and Heros of Steel as being "connected" to my google account but not STE. I've tried to find some way to disconnect the app from my google account so I can reconnect it but as far as Google is concerned it's not and reinstalling the app or wiping it's data doesn't seem to convince it otherwise either. (I'm assuming that google will prompt me when the app requests to connect to my account the first time.)
In the past I've always run under one device or the other but after my last device upgrade I had to start over because I didn't have a backup. In retrospect I don't think the cloud backup was an option back then either. So now I want to keep my captains in sync and available on both devices as a backup. Plus I tend to alternate between these two devices for entertainment as the situation demands.
If there was a way to "save" or "export" my captain, I could transfer/backup him manually via DropBox. FWIW I have a few apps that use the DropBox API to automatically sync between devices and it's been really stable. Don't know if this may be a possible future option that may be more stable than Google Cloud Sync. I understand the reluctance to implement a method to "save" your game though. I read the other thread where that came up and it does makes sense.

Google has recently released a much improved data storage option targeting games, which we are investigating.
Helium supports DropBox, but I believe only in the pro version. Andrew's link has more info.

Thanks. I'll look at Helium and see if that fits the bill. And you were correct originally fallen, it is Star Traders Elite RPG that I'm looking to backup.
