Not sure but wanted to ask, since the price of used ships has went up, has it gone up too much? I originally thought I wasn't getting much credit for my used ships, especially with upgrade prices I paid, but now it seems like I am getting almost full credit. I applaud the increase but was just wondering if anyone else thinks maybe it is a little too much. Please do not misunderstand, i think the game is tottally awesome and play it most of the day. I do agree it needed to go up, but now I feel like after I take em around the quadrant and get the paint shot off of them, sometimes I am getting too much.

I noticed the substantial price increase of trade-ins and agree that it's probably now gone too far the other way, but I'm happy to test a bit more to see how things do balance out. For trade-in price, I definitely would like to have the following as influences to the price you get ... - Rank and Reputation with the faction
- Negotiation skill
- Intimidation skill
- Condition of ship (damage should definitely reduce the ship value at much more than the cost of repairs)
- Upgrades added (some upgrades should be more valuable to potential buyers than others)
- Number of repairs since purchased. This would be an awesome hidden statistic where all attributes (sail, hull, engine, weapons, etc) repaired get counted and this impacts on the ship value. After all, if you are selling a car that has low mileage in great condition with an impeccable service history, you're gonna get a better resale value than something that's been fixed a couple of hundred times.

Factors In Use:
Rank and Reputation with the faction
Condition of ship (damage should definitely reduce the ship value at much more than the cost of repairs)
Upgrades added (some upgrades should be more valuable to potential buyers than others)
I'm rebalancing it some more testing now, i think we'll get there =)

Price increase or no, this doesn't seem quite right: | My Mars Class | Stock Mars Class | Price | $66,600 | $427,996 | Armor | 12 | 6 | Torps | 16 | 2 | Upgrades | - Dreadnought Architecture (+6)
- Water-Fuel Tank (~25)
- ARES Class Missile Control (16)
| None |
Rep:24 Rank:2 I agree, Cory, it needs more balancing and testing.

Help me by explaining this post so I can make it actionable -- I feel like you're trying to point out a problem but I'm confused. Do you feel like the new Mars class is over priced? That the artifact freshly recovered from a Stellar Forge is too cheap for the stats? Honestly, if you mean to agree that it needs more balancing (IE, used ships will be sold for LESS than they are now) the table is a strange way of stating the case. This is like when people e-mail me "please overhaul the trade system." I don't even know what that means I want to include your feedback in the design, but if I cannot figure out which side you're on I'm unable to help!

Hey Cory, I think Mordechai is suggesting that the Mars Class 2nd hand value is too low given all of the bells and whistles he has added onto the ship. Assuming he has gotten all of the repairs done in advance of the sale, his expectation is that he should get more than 15% of the new price. I just did a test by buying a Pirate Flame Dagger (buy price $555,108). I added the DN architecture, water tank, and predator array. Resale value at same market = $68,676 (12.4% of new price). Funny, because adding the predator array (buy price around 27k) increased my resell price by a whopping $776. Now take my Honor of Javat, which has a bunch of upgrades. I can sell that for $108k, when a new one is $438,532 (or 24.7%). Admittedly Javat faction had RP of 208 and Cadar (the place I was buying/selling the Flame Dagger) had RP of 94, but we're talking almost doubling the equivalent retail value. Oh ... just tried selling the Flame Dagger to Javat and got an offer for 88k. Anyway ... that's my analysis so far
