Just to clarify... In Fyona's specific case I think the cost of spending a talent point on BD outweighs its utility given its drawbacks (relatively small heal, 4AP). My build of Fyona specifically focuses on her providing as much group defense buffs as possible, tanking, Cursing high AP enemies with Reckoning 1, and being the groups tertiary damage dealer (roughly in that order). I use health potions to heal when necessary, which isn't often given the choices I've made in my group composition and play style. That's what creates the best synergy with my current group and being 'required' to take an ability I don't currently need in order to address a perceived balance issue (which I disagree is an issue to begin with) seems unnecessarily arbitrary.

Zhivago I want the boss fights to be more boss. Oh, I think boss fights should be challenging! You and I agree on that. However, I imagine your experience with the game might color your current perception given you have probably gone through that specific fight many times and have the optimal tactics and strategies down pat.

New to the game, been playing less than a week. Want to chime in on the shaman fight.
On my second team playing on hard. My build is think is solid but that is for another thread. I am to understand the fights have a bit of randomness to them as they are rolled for correct? Some times they are crazy some times not so much? I guess on nightmare its always just crazy.. Have not tried that yet.
Anyhow the fights right outside the entrance to shaman level were way crazier than the shaman fight actually was. I was able to debuf him with a level 2 ethereal anguish and a level 5 choking ash that left him with no armor. Vreas at the time had level 4 or 5 phalanx shield so i just parked him next to the shaman and *ignored* the shaman till i took down everyone else. In my opinion with that particular setup the shaman was the lowest priority and the least threat. Infact the hardest thing at the shaman was actually that deathkin with the 18 armor just because my guys if they hit him at all did almost no damage. (I again ignored him till the end and killed the real dps in the room, the veterans). Never was i concerned about a wipe during the fight.
I am also going to mention that i had not yet trained the decurse spell on my cleric yet. (So far playing the entire episode one i think my guy was actually only cursed twice. Seemed worth the risk to just carry the scrolls than waste a point. Maybe that needs to be looked at as well... (I see posts of ppl crying about the rat curse being too hard... Maybe it was nerfed too much.) Anyhow during the entire shaman fight, all three spawns he only cursed vreas once. (I am not using the resist ward either). Possibly phalanx shield was autoblocking his curses? Does it do that?
Suggest: Great shaman not debuffable period. or his base stats so much greater than they are so the only way to fight him is to heavily curse him. Both opens up good strategys. Personally i like not debuffable.
Add a melee attack when he is at zero range to counter phalanx shield. <---
Have him randomly switch targets every turn... Or even make it even harder and switch every single AP.. Not sure how your ai works but that alone would make this guy seriously hard... Insta pop an undergeared mage. switching targets would make him very difficult to tank and force the player to shut him down.
Make the curse a nasty two turn killing DOT... Then have him toss it on the mage. :-)
This guy is the end of episode one. he should be killing players.

riverjack - the Great Shaman is not the end of Episode 1. Thanks for the feedback! We get feedback on both sides of the wire as to whether the fight is too hard or too easy, so we'll keep trying to improve.

riverjack - the Great Shaman is not the end of Episode 1. Thanks for the feedback! We get feedback on both sides of the wire as to whether the fight is too hard or too easy, so we'll keep trying to improve. How is the shaman not the end of episode one? After killing him i come back to oskahold- The cut scene with the injured caravan guard triggered for me right away because i went straight to the inn before talking to the Reeve. It feels like it triggered a little too early. Perhaps it is meant to trigger after completing the shaman quest and getting the rewards? Anyways after killing shaman went back to town, triggered the injured guy cut scene... Yada yada. Took care of my own stuff, slept, trained, sold junk from my inventory. Then talked to the reeve. There is a very specific blue text chat dialogue that says "This is the end of episode one.." There really was nothing else to do after finishing the shaman quest. I went and finished up the Silver Cohorts (Btw... Only 100 xp (twice) and no trinket? Did i mess something up with the old lady? Was she supposed to give me something? I was gonna say something about that anyways... I get 100xp or more from one pile of mobs. Felt like it wasn't much of a reward, but then I considered the fact that a didnt really do anything extra so the 200xp was just kinda a little insignificant bonus. A necklace or something would be appropriate since old ladies always have a buncha old jewelry laying around... How about including the tomb of Lukai in this quest as well since he is already there in the north dungeon) Anyways.... The game specifically says "this is the end of episode one" ..... Oh hey you know what, i am looking at the ep route map.. There is a ton more of EP one Check the dialogue for finishing shaman quest theres a Blue Text that pops up saying its the end... One of the girls says it, i think the cleric (or maybe tamilin)

riverjack - I believe the line you are referencing reads: "This is the end of the first Act of Episode 1: Death's Consort. As I look around at my friends, I can see our resolve forming. We will stamp out this evil, this corruption." There are two acts in E1.

This explains many of the lingering quest log reports I've been fighting around this set of story events! I have now fixed the trigger, which was, as you said, firing too early. Fixed for next, resolved hanging QL error.
