Maybe it's me ... maybe it's the fact that cats only have 4 fingers on each paw buuut my CK has Dex = 4 Int = 4 Per = 3
So my AP should be AP =(4+4+3)/2 + 3 AP = 5 + 3 AP = 8
But for some reason, my AP in combat is set at 5.
Now I have Body 4 (impants take that to 6) I have Neural Hardwire II, which sets AP to 6
SHOULD Neural Hardwire II add 6 to the base AP, or does it over-ride it? ?
What am I missing?

slayernz - "set" is the keyword for "sets regardless of other stats (i.e. NOT add). Does that help?

Ack - so why would someone buy the upgrade? Surely by the time you've saved up enough for the NH2, you would have gotten the AP up to that level right? Removing the kit now

slayernz - I will check into the 5 vs 6 thing. The point is not for the Knight who has saved up for NH2. The point is for your new Runner who could use the 6 AP to stay alive.

Ooooooh ... okay. More to improve runners than CKs Thanks for the clarification

slayernz - I see most of the "set" cyberware that way. With enough money, you could wire up a novice runner who is pretty strong and fast out of the gate.

I think that Slayer has it though. There are less expensive ways to keep a new runner alive until he or she has 6AP natural.

Or you can buy 6AP via cyberware and put all of your points into other skills and attributes, because you don't care about trying to add AP.

Unless you want to give yourself a hard challenge -- play this game with only 6 AP -- I cannot imagine ever not caring about AP, or indeed making increasing it to something substantially higher than 6 your #1 priority in the game for a very long time.

Great strategy discussion - lots of ways to do it. slayernz - you'll have to decide if it is worth sinking the credits

Even though I had the 6AP, the game only let me have 5Ap during combat. I must have had something that consumed a whole AP before the round even started. Playing with only 5AP is not fun. not fun at all.
When you get implants removed, I noticed they disappear from your inventory. it would be nice if you could just hose them off a bit, shake em out, then pay for them to be fitted to some other party member (at a future date).

Bad kitty!

I don't know of anything that consumes AP like that, though several things you can type (move noplace, reload, escape) can do this.

However ... the first cat, slayernz is correct. Nishigumi Akira, a CK with 10+ stats across the board, got very drunk one night and on a dare installed Neural Hardwire II (Sets AP to 6) from the Tattoo Parlor. And he only got AP of 5 when fighting. So Neural Hardwire II is bugged.
