Cory TreseHaving seen what has come out of the HoS game engine, I am just curious to see if you have any plans for the motivation engine, trait mapping and other such code. It's one of the things mentioned on the ST2 kickstarter (as in how the HoS game engine has been used)

We plan to build as many of the modules of ST2 as reusable components as possible.
Future games, like CK2, would certainly benefit from a finished motivation engine, trait mapping system and so on.
We're definitely trying to think long term as we design ST2 -- we want to make sure that the community investment is fully capitalized.

Did I hear a CK2 I have been really impressed with both 4X and HoS.

I would love to make Cyber Knights 2, but fallen may be too crazed about "Legends of Steel" to listen to my pleas

That module system sounds a lot like an electronic version of D20 or more advanced RPG Maker. Just plug in specific content like sprites, text, ect and off you go. I know its really popular with game hacks and open source mods with more modern videogames too. Less work, more time to whoop ass.

Trying to build one of our games in something like RPG Maker would be pretty much impossible.
I'll stick with C/C++, OpenGL and assembly -- much more time to whoop butt.
Things like RPG Maker are a trap -- they're tempting at first, but you end up making RPG Maker games, not TB games.
I am yet to play an RPG Maker game where I didn't immediately recognize -- even if you replace every part of the theme it's still obvious.

Saw one of the ST2 KS launch vids. You have a cute dog That's Mr. Tuts, he is a rescue from CA. He was a real mess when we got him but he has healed up and mellowed out into a really good guy -- sweet and very friendly. He's terrified of beeping noises and flashlights, sorta weird but who knows.

Does that mean you can't play the CK theme near him?

I am yet to play an RPG Maker game where I didn't immediately recognize -- even if you replace every part of the theme it's still obvious. I dabbled with RPG Maker at one point, got it for a buck from humble bundle and found it more of a pain than a help. Still, was good for teaching my son some basic concepts in a way that was easy for him to understand. I quickly discovered it would be quicker for me to write everything from scratch than make RPG Maker functional in a way that looked good and acted how I wanted it. Its more of a hobbyist tool than a real game making tool. It was fun to play with for a little while, but it's really quite a crap product tbh. (Guess ok for someone who can't program). Oh and I'd vote for LoS over CK2 too! I liked CK, but HoS has more staying power for me.
