Which of the Xeno are you most at odds with? Once I can find a list of the different Xeno, or after the next update that balances them, I'll make up a poll, but until then... I'm fighting the Red Zorga on the 32x32 30 World map, and even on normal these guys are f-ing BRUTAL. Can't even imagine the difficulty on the highest setting, but I'm really working for this one, and in the middle of a spy battle crushing my economy to top it all off... Good stuff, now it's your turn

Thank you! I can tell you that at that score, those Xeno will not be impacted by the upcoming re-balancing patches.

My arch enemy are the Nyktos.
I had my longest term game, just over 25 years long, where the majority of 20 years was an on again off again war with them. The other Xeno were basically shunted to the side by their growth.

Well, I've only battled the Zorga and the Xeno from the tutorial, and Zorga definitely seem worse. The Zorga expand quickly, which was almost my undoing in my first and current campaign against them. If I hadn't discovered them early, they would've controlled all systems directly adjacent to the east side of my primes. Once contacted, Zorga attack in waves. The Zorga's first and second waves almost overwhelmed my defending forces.
@enigma, I think we're playing the same map--Rinze 32x32.

They are too weak in level to get the upcoming rebalancing buffs.

Almost a three year battle against the Red Zorga... We finally drove them off, good thing too- almost all of my ships were on death's doorstep. All this right alongside a 2 year Spy Battle crippling the economy... Any way to calm that one down a bit there, Cory Trese? Crazy irritating that there is no way to remove it until way later on the game. It would be one thing if it were a relatively brief issue, but it NEVER goes away... /End Rant... Sorry about that- seriously loving this game again, don't get the wrong impression

Why are you having the Spy Battle? Something is re-uping the duration ...

Cory Trese I'm not sure, honestly... Each faction has 3 systems, mostly the same level of EP, though I got some shoddy rolls and some systems don't have the full build out as the primes and better colonies. I'll check tomorrow and see if I can decipher what the problem is, but as far as I know nothing is crazy out of balance. Game is also running on normal, so the insane duration is even more irritating to me. Luckily I got a break in the Xeno onslaught, so I have a chance to stabilize and recover- I would have been overwhelmed if they hadn't backed off. Speaking of which, in the entire 3+ year war, they only sent a single WK at me, is this normal?

At level 16, they are only going to build and send them one at a time. Soon, they'll start using a two pronged attack strategy, around Level 20.

Best strategy for that map IMO is to take and hold the middle so you can use it as a refueling base. Also against Red Zorga I always use fleets composed of fighters and carriers. Keep up a big screen of cheapish ships that can be repaired in the field. Fight zerg with heal-able zerg basically. lets see also I design the ships for my defensive fleet different then my assault fleets I usually tag ship names with a -D or -A to remind me. On defensive ships I like to put the +1repair/+1stalth propulsion upgrade because I expect to be fighting in or next to green space with them. Can be fitted on strike fighters and wolf cruisers.
Where as my assault ships are designed purely for dmg + high armor/evasion no extra repair

Ha, with the Spy Battle going, I'm researching mining tech, building mines, and designing affordable ships. And geez, the Zorga colonies do not go down easy. I think I'll need 3-4 Military Transports to take down my first White Dwarf. So I'm working on the Planetary Invasion tech too, so I can make more effective invasion ships.
