Preface: I don't expect to have big revelations in this post, but I'd rather like to see your opinion and suggestions.
My first group finally reached Sheltered Sanctuary AKA Ep4 holding pen, and it is time to look back and attempt to understand the situation.
How's the game work? Were the group working up to the expectations? Were the goals reached?
First I can say, is that the goal of enjoyability and satisfaction with the story was definitely achieved. The game itself, the story, characters, the developer attention was much appreciated, and multiple times.
Now, without further delayes, the party:
Vraes (Tank Warrior)
Stone Skin 5
Phalanx Shield 10
Burst of Speed 5
Natural Mastery 1
Ferocity 5
Skills and stats:
Your classic Sword-And-Board type of tank. I don't know, what else to say.
Respec: yes.
Initially I put one-too-many points into Natural Mastery, and was going around with Savage Sweep 5 and Juggernaut 5. Too. Many. Points. I was considering dropping Savage Sweep entirely in favor of Juggernaut, but the cost of higher levels of talent was prohibitive.
Instead, I've run a few comparisons and decided on Ferocity with 16STR/16 Blades.
Behold, the mighty:
Future plans: None, really. Working up the Con to stay alive longer without immediate attention is probably the only sensible choice for now. Beside that, no idea.
Kjartan (Curse/Support Wizard)
Pureflame Shield 7
Burning Blades 6
Warding Words 1
Choking Ash 10
Meteoric Shockwave 2
Firestorm 1
Firebolt 1
Skills and stats:
Choking Ash 10 <3
The rest is very useful too.
I was concentrating on his support skills from the stat, ignoring accuracy completely, and his damage was suffering to the point, where I wasn't using his attacks at all. But in the middle game I started pumping points into accuracy and the damage became relevant. Not astounding, but relevant, especially on fire-weak or low resistance mobs. Or when he could cover many mobs at a time (and actually hit them all).
Warding Words is a huge SP saver… for Tamilin.
Respecs: Not that I recall.
Future plans: Give more attention to attack talents, once I'm satisfied with support. After Burning Blades 10 may be. May be.
Talents stats are unimpressive, listing for completeness:
Kyera (Curse/Damage support Cleric)
Warder's Shield 3
Piety Ward 2
Myshana's Tears 4
Ethereal Anguish 10
Banishment 8
Smiting Blow 1
Skills and stats:
She's a purifying breeze. In that sense of "purifying".
Ethereal Anguish quickly convince wayward childs to behave, and for those unconvinced, Banishment is the ultimate argument.
It is largely due to Banishment, after timely curse application, that the last fight of Ep.3 wasn't a complete disaster.
Respecs: Yes. At least once. I'm still missing Holy Retribution every now and then, but overall, trading it to Banishment proved to be a good decision. And once I started to acquire Tomes of Cleansing, keeping Purifying Breeze was no longer looking like a good idea. Two talent were already a sound argument for respec, but then I realized I almost never use Myshana's Tears…
I dropped some points from Tears and Lore, dropped Holy Retribution for Banishment and pumped everything I felt relevant.
Future plans: Keep it up for God's sake. And add more defenses, since Kjartan is on the edge of exhausting his possibilities.
Talents:
Tamilin ("You never saw me" Thief)
Blacknight 5
Deadly Intuition 10
Farsight 4
Disarming Touch 2
Aimed Shot 4
Ranged Onslaught 3
Skills and stats:
Took me time to realize the importance of stealth. Long time. I could easily attribute half of the death count to lost surprize rolls. Half of that could easily be won, if not my mistakes. Half of the time, blatant mistakes.
Respecs: Yes. Took excess points from Disarm and Precision Pick and pumped them into Deadly Intuition. With minimal changes to other talents at the time.
I only recently started to boost Ranged Onslaught to keep its accuracy on par with Aimed Shot. Otherwise, RO1 is sufficient for a very long time.
Future plans: Like I would tell you?
Talents:
1 AP Slash: The. Single. Deadliest. Attack. Ever. Kills everything. Trolls. Orcin Berserkers. Wraith. Ghouls. Ghosts. Golden Scarabs. Simple everything.
