When you select a ship from the star map there is a window in the upper left corner that displays information about that ship: name, fuel, hull, AP, MP, etc. But it doesn't tell you who owns thst ship. You have to go to a different screen for that information.
Since there isn't faction specific color schemes, I was thinking it would be nice if that window also displayed a flag showing faction ownership. That way when you select a ship, you know who it belongs to.

This would be especially helpful for colony ships.

How many idle colony ships do you usually have? ;-) I can hardly remember having more than 3, maybe 4 colony ships at any given time - and once produced they are sent to the planet/area they are intended for.
All in all colony ships are usually a "just in time" production for me, so I can usually keep track of them.
What you could do (especially if you got the ship skin packs) is designing a seperate Colony ship for each faction, name it accordingly and give each a different look. et voilĂ !

This would be especially helpful for colony ships. Yeah. I try to colonize evenly between the factions, so often have multiple ships moving. There have been times when I send colony ships out and while in transit discover a better planet and think, "Hey all those minerals would be good for Javat." and want to move a colony ship there. But chances are I select the wrong ship. When I do discover my oops I have to decide something like "do I really want a new Steel Song colony so far from the front?" And have to waste time moving it where I wanted it in thd first place.

How many idle colony ships do you usually have? ;-)....
I like to colonize every world as soon as it's purged so the fleet can immediately repair & refuel in place. So quite a few in late game (if you count the ones en route as idle) on a huge map where some of the colony ships have to travel substantial distances, and I'm purging a Xeno world about every 4th turn (using two, 12 transport invasion fleets). Here's a scenario that happened to me in my last game: My 1st fleet has just finished reducing a Xeno system and Rychart was one behind the other factions in colony count, so I had a Rychart colony ship standing by to colonize it. Unfortunately as soon as it did so, the Rychart ingrates sold the colony to the Indies (I'd gotten a little too happy with the Bombard button). Had Rychart kept the world, the next two systems purged would have gone to Thulun and Cadar, giving the closest remaining Rychart colony ship (which was already en route) plenty of time to make its way forward. But since they hadn't, 3 turns later when the 2nd Fleet purged the next system it was still 15 squares out. Therefore the 2nd Fleet had to sit for another 5 turns in red space around the purged system with their thumbs up their collective butts, waiting for it to arrive before repair & refuel could begin.... Not a happy time, so to be sure I can keep the colony counts balanced without holding up progress, I now keep spare colony ships near the front. ....What you could do (especially if you got the ship skin packs) is designing a seperate Colony ship for each faction, name it accordingly and give each a different look. et voilĂ !
That's a great idea, that I'll use in my next game.
