Could we get some visual feed back on whether a blow was dodged or parried? Maybe how "resist" is shown, show "dodged" or "parried" appropriately.

Do you mean specifically the distinction between dodge and parry?

Could we get some visual feed back on whether a blow was dodged or parried? Maybe how "resist" is shown, show "dodged" or "parried" appropriately. If you consult the combat thread, you'll see that there is no distinction between a "dodge" and a "parry." Both are the results of the defensive dice rolling more successes than the attacker's dice. In the case of melee, Parry dice are strong dice, and in the case of Range, dodge are more important. There is a different between a miss and a soaked hit. A soaked hit means the armor roll exceeds the damage ... you hit, but you caused 0 damage. That, you can see by watching the enemy. If the enemy moves slightly toward the attacker and "closes in" then it has dodged / parried the attack. If the enemy twitches violently to its left, you hit. If it twitches like that, but no damage is displayed, the damage was soaked. Maybe we can add a "-0" text to the map to be clear when the damage is soaked.

I actually like the -0 idea myself Ditto, Cory and fallen for -0 idea, that will help me better understand what is going on. For some reason I was thinking that dodge was rolled first to avoid then, if not dodged, goes to parry for melee, not WITH/at-same-time parry. Prolly because that's how my old half made pen and paper rpg was... Dodge is the only one used for ranged before resist and armor right? Sorry for my confusion.

"miss" "soaked" would work too imo.

Check the combat thread for specifics of attr / skill use - startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/6711/combat-mechanics?page=1At this time, I don't want to over-clutter the game's screen with a word popping up on every attack. The design of Heroes has been "clean dungeon" from the beginning.

OK, I had read the combat thread, just my old memory popped back over the combat thread info. I should remember a bit better now that I've been corrected personally. I have an inflamatory autoimmune disease that screws with my brain and memories. Makes me dumber

Yeah, double a low roll is still no better than many 'normal' hits.
