Hey everyone. I'm here, you're here, some of us (cough-- me) more than others... Would anyone be interested in just having a basic conversation thread where we don't need to worry about ntsheep derailing it? If not, I'll delete it or it can just fade away into the annals of the forum, but I would love an opportunity to really converse with people about pretty much whatever... So long as everyone participating agrees not to take anything to heart or take offense at what is said herein, then I don't see why anything but the most taboo subject matter would be inappropriate. I'm just taking the temperature of the waters here, but perhaps we could have a particular topic/theme for 3-5 days, a week, or even a few hours if nobody wants to talk about it. I leave it up to those willing to join in, so I'll see where that takes us. I want things like genetic engineering, politics (I know, I know...), food, amazing experiences, issues any of you may be having where you don't have any outlet to express it. I want flights of fancy, life's revelations, dark times you've experienced, as well as the great times. Favorite kind of beer/wine/spirit. You get the idea. We have people from all over the world visiting our little slice of internet heaven, why not use it as an opportunity to really learn something about our fellow man. I'm fully aware that this may be asking a lot from people, but I want a place where we can just talk, human to human... to sheep... rabbit... cat... (you people are weird...). I look forward to seeing where this takes us

You know the craziest thing I'm capable of doing that shocks people the most is being serious. Search the forum and you'll find times where I wasn't doing anything silly at all. So to answer a few of your questions, Scotch, Brandy, and Sake are my favorites forms of vudka. I wish more people still believed in the old saying "I may disagree with what your saying but I'll fight for your right to say it" Politics all over the world would be so much easier if people would just learn to compromise. Most of my time since I only have a part time job one weekend a month is spent on the web with most of that time here. There are quite a few threads about other things on this forum I like. I spend a lot of time watching anime and have many good conversations with people in the thread for that. A dark time\thing I hate is the fact that I'll most likely never get to meet any of you in person but I'm still always very happy to check in and see what others are doing and feel very happy when others do the same with me. Finally, as a master practitioner of all things Insane, I have flights of fancy leaving every hour with nonstop trips to the second star on the right.

I agree that it's too bad most of us won't meet, unless our esteemed developers start a TB Con (fingers crossed)

I think a TB Con would be amazing ... even if we only have 11 people show up. All amazing cons started with tiny groups and then snowballed. Let us finish ST2 and we'll talk about a Con. That would be my happy place

I once mentioned somewhere on the forum that the TB's at a convention would be awesome. A football team that shall not be named just left St Louis, there's a big dome for rent now, we could all fit in that. Cory may be in driving distance.

I'm open-- anything come to mind? What's the happiest you've ever been? The happiest I've been is deeply intertwined with my greatest despair. It involves my love of my wife, religion and a sense of oscillating completeness an incompleteness. A complex story of my life for years... a bit much to get into all at once.

I mentioned a black market in Star Traders and like TB Con - it hasn't happened yet I Brandy and Sake aren't really my things. You know, the night before I got married, my best man and grooms man bought out an 18 year old bottle of single malt whiskey. I tried my hardest to enjoy it, but ended up adding coke (coca cola ) to it. I got abused for that and wasn't allowed any more. Rum though ... especially rum and coke, or even rum and orange juice is great. I banned myself from alcohol once, for a whole year after imbibing too much of that Rum stuff. Because I couldn't drink rum, I mixed coke and orange juice together and got a surprisingly tasty drink (I called it a Muddy Puddle). I dare you guys to try it one day. You'll be pleasantly surprised assuming you like coke and you like orange juice None of that crap orange cordial sugar type juice though - I'm talking the freshly squeezed stuff, with pulp that sometimes gets stuck in your teeth! Now that's a good orange juice. Wait - err what was the topic again?

All the time in the world, friend. In a world of meaningless interactions by random and inconsequential passerby, an opportunity to hear something entirely worthwhile is as precious as gold to me.

The trick to learning how to take hard liquor is starting off small. Take little sips at first, swish it around your mouth just like you do mouth wash. Get use to the burn first, then take bigger and bigger sips until on day you can down a Red Solo cup half filled with Crown Royal in one shot and every one else falls over from shock while you're still standing. Another thing to do is start off drinking the hard stuff on the rocks, then when you're use to that, go straight. If you really want to enjoy good alcohol, you need to learn how to do it the right way. Drinking till you drop or vomit or both is not the right way. Drinking till you've forgotten who you are and get convince that your the Headless Horseman is not the right way either, but damn did I have fun laughing my ass off watching my cousin fall off that spring horse in the playground. Never let yourself get that drunk around me. I will not be nice to you. You will regret it the next day and years afterwards. I never miss a chance for a good mind frack

And if you can't go a day or more without thinking about alcohol... you're addicted, get straight, especially if you have people that rely on you.

I'm very glad my life went the way it did. If my wife (girlfriend of three years at the time) hadn't told me I was moving in with her, I would have kept drinking, going nowhere fast. Now I have my life on track, a bright little 2.5yo running around, and I couldn't picture my life any other way. I still enjoy a drink or two when I get the chance, though-- I just enjoy it all the more

And if you can't go a day or more without thinking about alcohol... you're addicted, get straight, especially if you have people that rely on you. That depends on how you think about it. If you make it as a business, then you think about it a lot. It's when you think that you need it all the time it becomes a problem. I actually grew up in a bar for a while when I was younger. My mother and her boyfriend at the time owned one and we lived above it. I got to see the best and worst sides of drinking. It helped me to understand things in a way that I never realized till I was older. I didn't have my first hard drink till I was 24. Bought a bottle of scotch one night on a whim went home and had a nice little drink. Always do my drinking at home mostly. If I'm at a family\friends house and will be staying the night, I'll drink there. As long as you do it responsibly, drinking is safe and in some cases even good for your health a lot of studies have shown.
