ntsheep Atlas Screams johndramey En1gma mandomaniac wascalwywabbit xdesperado The Midas Star made its way through metaspace, travelling along the currents of energy under the control of Captain Fadel. He had been rotating with Navigator Eisenwahr from time to time, using the opportunities by taking a break to stretch his legs and inspect his ship. He had faith in his Navigator, trusting that they would arrive in the Laspera system shortly. Then they would be only a few hours away, and would be able to unload the metals they had in the hold from Obloth. He would stay at the helm until they drilled back into normal space, at which point he would summon Navigator Eisenwahr to take the helm. The journey for the crew of the Free Trader vessel had been uneventful so far, travelling from one world to another, buying this such good here and selling it elsewhere. The economies of the Sector never quit, and the fires of expansion were fed by trade. The crew of any merchant ship knows this, and the crew of this ship knows it as well. It may not be glamorous work, but these days, anything could happen. This is your time to interact IC for a bit. The Midas Star will reach Laspera in about 7 hours

*walks onto the bridge*
Hello, Captain, I know we aren't drilling back into normal space for a couple hours, but I thought I'd report to the weapons station a bit early and run some diagnostics.
*heads over to the weapons station with a cup of coffee*
Was just wondering, Cap, how long are we planning on being in port? I was hoping to have some time to do a bit of exploring on my own, and also promised the guys that I'd take 'em out for a drink.
Also, since we're getting into port and all, any chance we'll get a pay day? I know times are hard and all, but I'm hoping to be able to grab some trade goods for myself. Nothing big, mind you, all stuff I can keep in my quarters. I heard Laspuran wine is pretty good and, if all goes well, I'm hoping to grab a case or two.
*turns to the weapons station and starts going through test sequences*

johndrameyCaptain Fadel returns your greeting with a nod and a mumbled "Morning". After considering Nikoli's question for a few moments, the older spacer clears his throat and replies with a gravelly voice. "We'll be in port for a day or two. Depends on how long it takes to get these ores through customs. Then I need to try and get that blasted tech-merchant to sell me those electronics. At the most, we'll be in port a week, Gunnery Chief. You'll all get yer share. 300 credits each." As you start running your diagnostics, both the Multifocal Laser and the Sandthrower return as green across the board.

*poke head into doorway of bridge and speaks in a monotone*
"Ahh,, Morning sir. I'll be in the cargo bay awhile. Think I saw a couple of space rats in there and I'm hungry. Don't worry I'll use the revolver this time and not the laser pistol although I do like that better since it can cook then in the same shot at close range."
*runs off*

Krieger is making his acquaintance with the various non-breathing entities of the ship, deep in the bowels of whatever area has the least amount of people. He's not entirely unaproachable, however and he continuously looks over his shoulder in case anyone wants to come and speak with him. The fact that he is wearing his full combat suit while running diagnostics seems strange, but adds much needed bulk to his frame, making the wiry, 5' 4" man seem almost normal.
Not usually one to initiate contact, he has resisted the urge to go to the bridge unless specifically asked to, but has his compad at the ready should he be needed for anything.

"I'll make sure he doesn't brake anything this time. I don't care what he says. I. Am. Not. Eating one of those blasted rats."

Mast sat on his cot, absent-mindedly twirling his stun baton from hand to hand as he practiced his thought shielding techniques. All was going well until a surge in emotions directed his attention to the bridge.
"I guess its time to be sociable," he sighed as he stood and made his way the bridge.
"Could you all not think so loud? It's distracting." He paused as he gauged the room.
"Wait, are we eating rats again?"

ntsheep mandomaniacCaptain Fadel calls after you, sounding a bit peeved. "Don't you damage any ship systems! This thing is expensive! Break anything and it comes out of your pay!" Fadel looks over at Jardan and sighs. "Make sure that he only shoots at things with a weapon that won't penetrate the bulkhead plating."

Captain, if we're gonna have time for leave, I'd recommend we pair off Zandrok and Krieger with some of the more sociable and responsible in civilization - I'm worried they may cause an incident...
Also if it's alright with you, I'll check with some of my old acquaintances in the shops to see if we can fill up the hold if the electronics deal doesn't go well. I might not be known for business, but at least I'm trusted to deliver, that was my job after all. I wanna keep abreast on how things have been on Laspera anyway.
You want me to let Krieger and Zandrok know not to run off on their own when we get through port..?

wascalwywabbit"Aye. Make sure someone keeps an eye on them. And I want you to watch Marc-Antoine and Mast. Don't let them walk around without you. You know how our homeworld feels about psychics. I never bought into the hate, but they still need to be careful. Mast especially. If anyone finds out he's a telepath, they'll hang him from his ankles and gut him." Captain Fadel looks at his console, watching the numbers and letters scroll by, making adjustments when necessary and referring to another screen with the rutter pulled up every few minutes. He pulls up the crew comm server and pings the entire crew. The message is simple. Prepare for drilling into the Laspera system.

*Goes off to remind Mast and Antoine of their risky position and let Zandrok and Krieger know they'll have buddies if they need to go off ship.*
"I'll be back in a few to plot the entry and landing course, Captain."

Upon hearing the comm,
"Shit. That will make the rats hide. Oh well. Once we land I can check out the markets and maybe there are some parks nearby. Wonder what kind of squirrels they have on this planet we're going to."

Mast pondered the situation about to unfold. While there was a bit of a stigma against psi's like himself in most parts of the sector, Laspera was particularly bigoted against his kind. In the past, he had done his best to avoid this world.
He ran into the navigator in the hall outside the bridge.
"In a hurry?" He asked.

Mast, just a person I was looking for...
You know Laspera and psi-powerful...
It's probably best you stay on board unless situations absolutely demand otherwise.
