First, perspective.
My channel has 8 videos and a whopping 8 subscribers. None of my videos are monetized. Most of my videos haven't even cracked 20 views.
Now, the complaint.
I've been hit with 10 different copyright claims. 10! In fact, I'm in the process of disputing one right now. All of the strikes have been made by Russian corporations that have nothing to do with music, some didn't even have websites!
When one of these disputes happens, the claimant can basically take control of your video, monetize it, and collect the income, before they are even proven to be right (which they never are.)
The taking of the income doesn't really bother me (I don't make any money anyway) but the fact that they can just make ads start appearing in my videos (which I have promised my few fans would never happen) bothers the ever living crap out of me.

Sorry to hear that has happened to you. The whole thing with Youtube sucks and is completely unfair to its users. More people need to know about this unfair system that's in place just to protect google from being sued. A person at google doesn't even handle it from the beginning, it's all done by computer bots and auto-email systems. Watch the video below to learn about it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVqFAMOtwaI

Wow, I didn't even know that my account was limited until I saw this video. What a load of crap, I'm switching to vimeo or something.

Apparently youtube already 'fixed' this by not fixing it at all :http://www.cartoonbrew.com/law/youtube-announces-improvements-copyright-claim-system-really-fix-problem-139518.html

I'm all for people being able to protect their work and stuff, but it's just total BS what google\youtube has allowed to happen here. Without any proof at all, someone else can take your video(s) and put a strike against, take away funds you may make, and even if you prove them wrong they still get to keep it. It's theft! There's no way for you to protect yourself from it. You only get so many chances for appeals and when you getting hit from multiple sides with these so called claims, you can't do a thing about it. Once you get so many strikes, whether theya re proven right or wrong, your account gets deleted.
There's only one time I've ever posted a video to youtube and that was during the alpha of BF. Thought I had found something wrong and the best way to describe it was show it. After hearing about the whole #wtfu thing and learning about it, I've been waiting to see if some a$$hole would flag my video. I watched a few other videos from other youtube reviewers I like and it's totally disgusting hearing about these people that are out there every day just filing claims against others. All it takes is just a few clicks and boom! You've taken control over someone's video and are now getting paid. You don't have to do anything else. After 30 days it gets dropped but you can do it again. The whole stinks like yesterdays diapers.
EDIT: just saw that link you posted.

Honestly all I can say is fuck the broken copyright claim system on YouTube. It's a great platform, and I get the need to protect IP, but seriously? We need a human element in there, not just automated systems.

Google is the most two-faced and backwards copyright defender ever. I really do hate them for the way they behave regarding copyright, piracy and patents.

I just spent about two hours reading the comments section of the video I put the link too. Some interesting ones in it, plus there are some that are new, only even a few hours\days old. Lots of comments about how the money will be held aside and then given out when the claim is settled, but that system has yet to go into effect from what I've read so far. There's also still the fact that while there's no limit to how many claims can be put against you, you can only fight off three at a time. Saw one comment where a video had five claims against it from five different claimants. Saw another where someone had used the 1812 overture, a piece of music that's public domain, and had it taken down by some rap group that used it also claiming they made it. Saw a lot of comment from people that had their videos taken down by Microsoft because they used the movie maker software to make it. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but that's the same program that's come with almost every version of windows since XP right? Over 20,000 comments there. Some funny, some sad, so that just make you say "WTF!" Worth a read if you guys get bored

Old Google: "Do no evil."
Copyright lawyers enter: "We found a bug in your corporation that hurts our clients."
New Google: "Do ... evil" "Does that fix it?"
Copyright lawyers: "Our clients say, yes."
New new Google-Alphabet: "Good, back to data collection, ads, breaking formerly useful things and moonshots."

There is an endless legion of xeno- I mean foreign claimant trolls that used the overly automated and incompetent YouTube system against its producers. There's currently a producer rebellion in progress- more of an awareness campaign really. I can't blame you for moving your material at all.

It's called free money If I'm reading things right and your the unscrupulous type YouTube has basically said it's ok to steal the money and intellectual property of others. Not sure how many major Corporations with ties to Hollywood have stuff they've posted on YouTube, but since they are the root cause of this mess I'd be sorely tempted to create a bunch of online identies then lay claims against all their stuff, playing Robin Hood and burning them with this idiotic process. Of course they'd probably waste a couple million dollars on lawyers and court costs to put me in jail and take what little I have instead of acknowledging their own responsibility for the mess and working to fix it in a sane civilized manner.
