Does higher quality crew armor help reduce crew damage sustained during Ship combat?
Just wanted to double check before I dump 42,000 creds into a Weapons Locker 4 upgrade...

Yes. But buying another pilot helps more .... (important lesson from the days of vanishing ship imports).
Hmmm. Let me take that back. I am not sure about it, 'cause I bought the matchweave crewsuits at the same time as my first locker upgrade, and maybe that is what is doing all the helping.

I'd also like to extend my original question to include crew damage from the card games. Does crew armor help in those instances?

I cannot tell, I hardly got damaged by the cards games, even when they talked about serious crew damage, before I bought anything.

No, crew armor has no impact on damage done outside of crew combat.
The explosion from a torpedo is going to shred any armor. The parasitic worm that crawled through your armpit and into our chest cavity is going to avoid armor too.

Once you are at that point in development, it would be great to have these more nuanced details in crew death descriptions!

Oh, and thanks for the answers. I will contemplate taking out the Weapons Lockers for something else...

I certainly wouldn't remove your Weapon Lockers completely LOL.

The parasitic worm that crawled through your armpit and into our chest cavity is going to avoid armor too. That's a shame. There's a lot of effects going on in adjacent areas after the torpedo hits that body armour would likely mitigate. You've probably got flash damage, shrapnel and flying debris causing punctures, lacerations and crush damage, secondary and tertiary explosions and shock effects. Assuming your security teams are at their combat stations and fully equiped, would it be possible to factor in body armour to their damage rolls? That way you would at least have a reasonably healthy boarding party when you finally get up close?

Maaaaaybe Leviathan mechs could survive proximity to a Torpedo strike. Maybe.

bobc - possibly, but I wanted to be clear that the game is not taking it into account at this time.
