Currently the Spy Job starts with 1 pistol, 2 stealth, 3 electronics. And seems to continue adding electronics slightly faster than other 2.
Would like to see stealth and electronics get swapped at level 1 and that stealth be the favored skill for progression.
Even if your not intending to participate in orbital spying operations stealth is a very useful skill for a variety of missions yet it is the rarest and hardest skill to acquire. Unlikely you will have more than 1 or 2 of your officers (including Captain) with the Spy job a higher stealth skill and faster progression will make it more usable without needing constant saves by talents such as Sly Move.
Meanwhile Electronics is widely available through a number of jobs and in fact is very likely to end up well past the 200% Ship Soak at a very early level.

+10 -- I very strongly agree with this. Hard to be a little sneak in this world, currently.

I think Spy is good where it is at, but we are adding more jobs in the future. If fallen jumps and decides he wants to buff Stealth for Spy, I support him Thanks!

My counter argument is that you hear Spy and think Stealth not e-tech, yet current situation has them adding far more electronics skill than stealth. Note I'm not suggesting removal of electronics skill as it is a very valuable one for intelligence collection of many types, just that I feel most peoples expectations for a Spy character is more of the James Bond cloak and dagger type and less of the tech weeny tapping into the communication lines. Also note that other Job's such as Electronic-Technician already get talents that nicely cover the electronic eavesdropping part of things nicely.

Though I dearly want one of these real bombers to fly around in for missions: The Space Kraken Stealth ship!

We will keep working on the Lore. Hopefully people will love Star Traders! The reaction of my officemates, who have never played a TB game, to what I showed them on Monday, K1 tab projected onto our 32 inch photoediting screen, indicates that 'loving Star Traders' is not going to be a problem.

I'm on board with the original request, but maybe it won't be necessary once the additional professions come in. One argument for keeping low level focus on Electronics and off Stealth is, when you're low level, you probably want to avoid Spying until you have some budget for ship upgrades first?
I'm currently having not that great a time with Spying. Talents are helping, now that I have 3 that I can use. I haven't tried hand-picking a good planet to spy on, so that maybe that's why. Just following spy missions to wherever they send me to may be making my life difficult...

If it was an easy planet to spy on they wouldn't have hired you

We will make sure their is a Job in the game with principal Stealth. It might be Spy, but probably will be something else.
It will exist, fear not.
