I bought too large a barracks (size 5) out of sheer carelessness. Maybe if you try to buy a barracks that supports more crew than your ship size, you should get a warning, and be made to confirm to proceed? I really should only have bought the level 4 barracks here. But it gives me this bug to show off.
It's advertising max crew size of 36, but this ship can only support 30 crew. Life Support is not a good term here, as you immediately wonder if it means 'counting or not counting officers'? Whereas if you just changed it to read 'Max non-Officers:' or 'Max Enlisted:' then it would be immediately clear.
What's worse (at least to me) is that it is advertising it here:
I think '9+' is a bad idea. You know how wide that icon is. There's room to say '12' if that is how many more crew I can support. I cannot imagine ever building something that made you hire more than 999 crew, and even 99 seems a stretch to me. So you have the room for the real number, whatever it is.
I think it is saying 9+ because it thinks I can stuff 12 more crew in there, based on the barracks size. But I cannot. I only have room for 6 more. And that is the number that the HUD should display. How the status sheet might indicate that your barracks can support 35 while your ship can only support 30, I am not sure, but for me, at least, it is less of a problem. Maybe what we have now is precisely good enough, though I worry that newbies are going to make plenty of spurious bug reports over this, if changes are not made. But having your HUD lie to you isn't good.
