I am a Steel Song Merchant.
Steel Song is reasonably pleased with me.
House Thulun is not. Unsurprising, since I have been escorting a diplomat all over Thulun space, working against Thulun.
Indeed, this is where I am, right now, finishing up with the diplomacy shuttle.
But if I look at my ship, here, in Thulun space:
Argh, the game thinks that this is a Thulun Ship! according to the flag, being displayed at any rate.
Argh, the game is showing this Thulun quadrant as being owned by Steel Song, at least according to the flag.
(so I wondered how on earth my home faction could suddenly dislike me ..... and I had better find a doctor soon or this captain is toast!)
