I think the idea of having the deserters take their fancy weapons with them was rather amusing, but how it works in gameplay is instead, tedious. Every time I am in a ship battle, some of my crew lose morale. I've packed the boat with exoscouts with nice pistols, since exploring -- at least the way I roll -- is combat-intensive work.
It's tedious to check all your fighters after every ship combat to see if any of them might desert, remove their guns, and then remember to put the guns back. It's moved all the way into 'this is not fun to play' territory. I'd like it if we increased the honorability and honesty of ST2 crew so that they all responsibly hand their weapons in before making a career -- or captain change.

A ticket was previously opened about this and then closed as fixed. I will check with Cory.
