I ' look at those attributes' and think --- better keep this one on board ship .... And out of ship to ship combat as well. Yes good fortitude, rest of the stats make me wonder how he survived long enough to become a captain.

Well, first he Commands you. If you don't listen, then he tries to Intimidate you. If you aren't scared he tries to Negotiate a good bribe. If you refuse, he knows he can soak a few bullets before he officers show up!

Killer skills roll . Combined with HP(136), doesn't get any sweeter than this. Mongo want one too, lol.

I'm probably missing a trick here, but what is wrong with these attributes?
Charisma and wisdom are on the low side for mission tests but high skill pools and a bunch of talent saves will compensate. Quickness is a bit low but some gear for initiative and focus on combat buffs rather than shooting.
Really don't understand why he should avoid ship combat? I have not seen anything explaining how attributes are used in combat, so whats wrong here? Good HP, standard morale and similar odds of eating a torp as the rest of the crew.

Lowish resiliance means his morale will fail more often. What happens when a captain's morale gives out in ship combat, I do not know, but I suspect it is not good. Strength and Fortitude together determine HP. (I cannot remember where I read that, but I saw it for myself when I thought -- "This captain will use a pistol, so put all the points into quickness and who cares about Strength". Fewer HP == more easily killed whether in ship or crew combat.

So with 136HP, average resilience and being a Captain won't pull his skills from the ship pools if he gets in a huff, he's pretty rounded. Not exactly captain of the enterprise material but certainly not to be sniffed at, especially with those skills.
So what attributes, if any, need to be high? The higher the better, of course, but how much does it really matter? How big a role will attributes take alongside traits and talents in the future?
