Prereq Doctor(8) should be pretty strong.
Currently: Generous Service Talent: ship med rating > or = to planet economy = +Rep bonus.
Proposal: Generous Service Talent: ship med rating + (Doctor/2) > or = to planet economy = +Rep local faction

John Robinson - I am going to leave this one how it is. Yes, it is only useful on more backwater and poor planets, but that is the point. Regardless of how awesome your ship is, you can only provide so much medical care compared to what the ground-based hospitals, doctors, Chasein and Gestalt are providing. I really see this as you landing on backwater worlds and being generous with your supplies and skills, as those are the people who really need it. You get a Rep bonus up to your Doctor skill, so that is pretty huge and loops in the skill. Also, this Talent will improve as more ship component's are released with medical bonuses. I don't want to preemptively rebalance the Talent, because I know what is coming for ship medical components.

fallen That's perfect. I didn't understand when triggered it would boost up to Doctor skill pts. Wow! Yes; Making more components right on! What a fascinating play option, to load up a ship with med components and travel the quadrants to help the poor. Sort of like the Doctors without Borders group we have today. I can see this matched with a Merchant, for player's that pursue peace, while keeping the ship funded. (I know someone like that) agree 100% thanks

John Robinson - yep, it is intended to have a doctors-without-borders feeling. So, if it was too easy to use on plush, high Econ worlds, I think it would lose its cool

fallen If I'm right Doctor Contacts currently don't offer missions. What if they could send you on a "Mission of Mercy"? It would also make it easier to locate worlds most in need of help.

John Robinson - we've got over 70 types of missions so far in the game, but sooooo many more to add

Does this talent actually work, and can you kludge it? I saw this one on a previous game (that got wiped due to upgrade) I put ~3~ Med bays, so the ship had a medical rating of 9. I never saw anything regarding that talent actually coming in to play.
I love the talent overall as it would be an outstanding way to help recover rep for factions who despise you. Do a 'doctors without borders' tour in one of their quadrants

Not 100% sure I'm correct, but I believe the Talent has a chance to fire after landing on a Settlement, so not guaranteed. It will also need to compete with other "fire after landing" Talents that your other crew may have. Max 1 Talent can fire post-landing. See the post and thread quoted below. The "Landing Now" event is separate event from "We have Landed". That is, the Efficient Drop Talent could fire as you land, and then Generous in Service could fire once you've landed. Can multiple Efficient Drop style Talents fire on the same event? No.

The Talent does work, I have seen it in action.
You were landing on worlds with less than 9 Econ and seeing "Medical: 9" in your status?
