Now that starting life with a Juror doesn't mean that I am stuck with her for life, I have been free to select higher values for Contacts. So, for instance, Contacts C gives you 4 choices. Since you are in a Juror, you decide that you do not want to go directly for ship combat desiring contacts, and decide, hmm. a Prince, a Politician, and 2 others.
So far, every game I have tried this with has given me 2 Princes in my own faction and a Politician belonging to some other faction. Which is not what I want. I want 1 Prince <mine>, 1 Politician <mine>, and 1 Prince <somebody other faction>. That way I can start by earning rep so the politician will let me hire diplomats, and then use the diplomats to help me run errands for both Princes, so I can get trade permits with 2 factions, so I can run goods between them and make a lot of money.
I'd really like it if, in the higher contract levels, you could specify 1 or 2 that you want to have in your own faction, in the quadrant you start in, rather than letting the game select and giving you a random selection. (Or is it worse than random, that the game is purposely not giving me a local Politician??)

grävling - thanks for the feedback, and sorry that the Contact selection isn't perfect yet. The situation with the Princes is annoying, agreed. It was something we put in place in preparation for the story role out. I like the idea of converting the Prince you can select in Contacts to "a Prince from another local Faction", which means you always get 1 Faction Prince, and have the option to get a second. Local vs. non-local isn't random but it also isn't ideal. The first 2 contacts you select (from the top of the Contact's list) will be local.

If we always get a local faction Prince anyway, then most of the time I want an OTHER Prince. I want trade contracts with 2 factions, so one Prince from my own faction and one from someplace else. But I can see somebody who just wants to increase the odds that somebody will have a Pirate to offer wanting 2 local Princes.
