It is annoying when less useful Talents like "Talk in the Hall" block more useful ones from activating, especially when my morale is high enough that I can only spice once.
Instead of activating only one particular Talent per spicing round, I think all the Talents like "Talk of Far Worlds" and "Talk in the Hall" should be activated simultaneously in one spicing round. This would cause players to no longer feel penalized for having "Talk in the Hall" or high morale.
It would also be cool to do this for Talents like "Righteous Profits" that involve transactions over $5000 in the Exchange

Sorry, this is not a change we are going to make. Only one Talent at a time will come forward to activate on a certain event. This is key for game balancing from a number of different directions.

Okay... but I still feel something should be done to improve Spice Hall Talent activation. What if players were able to choose Talent activation priority? For example, if we were able to put "Friendly Banter" on a higher priority than "Talk in the Hall", than "Talk in the Hall" would only activate when "Friendly Banter" is on cooldown.

resistor - another option would be allow you to keep paying for Spice Hall time for your crew even when they are at the top of their Morale game.

That would certainly be an improvement, but the if the player doesn't have the time for extra spice (they might be short on time for a mission), then that could still run into the same problem of a mediocre Spice Hall Talent blocking a high level one. On the other hand, what I proposed doesn't solve the problem of players effectively being penalized for having high morale. Maybe you should do both.

resistor - we are not going to add micro-management of Talent priorities across a crew. We'll keep looking for ways to improve.

resistor - I've proposed that before, but I think Cory/Andrew said it's not a good idea since the Talents are meant to represent chance encounters/conversations in the Spice Hall, and being able to prioritize those Talents breaks the randomness. It doesn't make sense that you might somehow arrange for meeting a Contact you never knew about in the first place. fallen - That is a viable option but is a waste of game-time. Ultimately that would be disadvantageous to players so isn't a good ultimate solution to this problem. That said, I'm sure some players will still want that option though. There have been occasions when I came back from a big victory or finished a lucrative mission and just wanted to splurge on the crew just for the heck of it, but wasn't able to because they were already at high morale. ----- I'm assuming that currently, the Talent that fires in the Spice Hall (if any does) is randomly selected from all available, applicable Talents. So for example, if there were 7 Crew Dogs with Relaxing Leave, 1 Merchant with Friendly Banter and 2 Navigators with Talk of Far Worlds, then each Talent has 10% chance of being picked (i.e. 70% chance of it being RL, 10% FB, 20% ToFW). If that's correct, then I suggest a change such that all available, applicable Talents have equal chance of being picked regardless of how many people have it available. So in the example above, it would 33% RL, 33% FB, 33% ToFW. The weighting would stay the same until one of the Talents is no longer available (still in cooldown for all people who have it).

athios - you are dead on target about the chance encounters / conversations / situations. You can't demand that these happen. Allowing Talent picking would be exactly that. The % chance is based upon the total number of available, applicable Talents. If you have 10 copies of a Talent among your crew, its likelihood is far higher to proc than a Talent of which you have a single copy.

At the same time, you don't want to make new players blow their money spicing because the button never goes off. What I suggest instead is a separate "listen" option that costs the same or less, but gives no benefits (or maybe costs morale as the crew aren't spicing with others). Then you can proc all the talents you want without confusing new people.

Yeah, or much like ST RPG, the officers might appear and tell you that the crew is pretty well-spiced already.

Just hire somebody who is worldsick. Spicing will no longer be a problem, as you will always need to top this person up.

I made a thread a long time ago about how you could make some "negative" traits work to your advantage and keeping someone on crew that created more demand for frequent spicing was one of the suggestions I made.
