I'm just wondering how zone types affect things within the zone. I noticed that certain zones give certain types of crew members. I'm wondering though whether certain zone types tend to have higher to lower zone stats for things like government and military.

Zone types are indeed affected by the zone type. I don't know all of which stats are affected by which zones, but I know Tradeways always have low Trade Law.

yes it is all connected. It starts with planet size and quality, atmospheric density. literally all the numbers influence all the numbers.

Population is really critical to the development of the other attributes.
Nice planets with reasonable atmospheres and of medium size are best.
Crappy planets will spawn low population places, wild zones, indy settlements and survival farms/mine zones.
Luxury Populations are usually either small or big. Tradeways have lower law.
Orbitals have lower population. Farms have lower military and generally have lower recruits because of it.
Indy Zones have good spice.
All Zones get Faction bonuses -- some of those are pretty big. Mok gets +5 Econ for every Zone!

We will get a Wiki page up about recruit limits. Then we can debate the life out of them

Hey I would appreciate any players who can head over to the Zones article I just created on the wiki and help me fill in some details. What I most need help with is the Zone Statistics bits. It would be cool to list the range for each statistic and what it influences in the zone. It won't be a lot of work and I think if we put together all the little bits we know we can make a good article. Thanks

Wow, looks great. Detail on the orbital stations. Hopefully TB's can assist in clarifying. The are in orbit, so not technically on the planet, but you do land on the station. I've noticed that you can't spy in orbit on an orbital station (at least the few I tried). Are there other restrictions or situations regarding Orbital Stations?

Landing in orbital station requires no fuel and takes only 1 turn -- much faster and cheaper than landing on a planet.
Limitations to Spying are based on zone stats, not the zone type.
You can only Patrol over Urban Zones. A zone must have 3+ Economy for Blockade. A zone must have 4+ Govt rating for spy.
