Bravo on the game balancing at game start. Makes sense that the starting crew is filled, no understaffing warning lights. Putting my 'new player' hat on, it will start things on an even ground, no need to figure out how to hire, who to hire before turn 1. Also good that all officers are hired, and Quartermaster and Doctor (with doctor Save Talent) pre-installed. Just a quick tip of the hat fallen and Cory Trese

Yeah, huge to eliminate those mandatory starting maintenance issues.
We once thought those would form the basis of the Tutorial but now realize that's a bad idea, based on player feedback.

Yeah, trying to run a ship without a doctor on board is pretty difficult.
It's also nice to have only one officer what what I consider a "wasted" job slot. I consider a normal crew job on an officer to be wasted, because I can hire a gunner, pilot, crew dog, etc at just about any port. But doctors, pirates, diplomats, spies and (especially) quartermasters are harder to come by. The only way to get those skill sets is to find a contact that offers them, or to have an officer pick them up. So when I have an officer that starts as a gunner, I immediately have him/her start training a hard to aquire skill and leave gunner at 1 and never train any talents for it. I'd rather have the officer start training as a spy and get my gunnery skill/talents from the crew. But that still leaves the officer with only 2 slots for hard to find jobs.
With 2 officers starting as doctor and quartermaster, that eliminates that issue for them. It basically lets me get two more uncommon job types on my ship. I wouldn't mind having the third officer pick a random uncommon skill too.

khearn - glad to hear it is helping! For now, we've left the other officer as a common job to help ensure that you can get all the Skill Pools up to fully staffed at the start of the game. Perhaps its something we will change down the line. If we did, we'd probably make it Job based on your Profession.
