Working an the Wiki article but need more facts. I would love it if players could chime in with what you know about reputation.
How do you get? How do you lose it? At what point do you start getting "acknowledge." What are the benefits of high rep? What are the drawbacks of low rep?
Even if it seems simple or obvious, let me know. Thanks!

Great start! Thanks to everyone helping with the wiki and especially contributor for his tireless adds! I added a blip about contact rep (i.e. Personal Reputation).

One question about Reputation I haven't been able to figure out is, at what level of reputation do you start getting the option to acknowledge ships from a various faction and build rep with them?
Also I haven't noticed rep fading like it did in ST RPG and CK. Is rep permanent in STF until I do something to raise/lower it?

Sorry for the bombardment here:
Also, is reputation limitless both in the positive and negative ends of the spectrum? If not what are the limits? -/+ 1000?
And can anyone tell me about wanted flags? Do both contacts and factions put them out on a captain and what are they based on exactly? Low rep with faction, or low rep with the specific contact?

And one more. What is the base calculation for figuring out effective rep with a contact. I know it personal rep, + some percentage of faction rep, but I can't make sense out of it from looking at contacts I have now. Probably because traits are modifying how they value my faction rep.

Effective Rep is on a specialized scale. Traits apply, but .. 1) If you have low Personal Rep (below 10) with a Contact, they don't care much for your Faction Rep. Once you get over a threshold of 20, they give more weight they give to your Faction Rep. 2) If your Faction rep is high or low (-50 or +50) then your Faction Rep's weight increases. Too much math to write it all down, but these are guiding types of principles.

Like all options in combat, it is not directly related to Rep threshold. It's tied into Rumors, Conflicts, Rep with the enemy captain, Rep with the quadrant owner, ship type, etc. I can't give a simple answer honestly.
