(I know trait mutations aren't implemented yet. This is a suggestion for when they are)
When a crew member's life is saved by another crew member, it would be interesting if the one who was saved had a (Charisma of savior %) chance of adopting a trait of the one that saved him/her. I've thought of a few different ways this could be implemented:
Scenario 1: A wounded guy on the front lines of battle gets a buff by someone in the back that grants 25% dodge chance. The next turn, an enemy shoots the wounded guy, but the attack is dodged. The game then checks the dice rolls of the attack and dodge, and if the attack would've killed the wounded guy if not for the buff, then he has a chance of acquiring a trait from the one who buffed him.
Scenario 2: A Skill test in deep space would've caused enough damage to kill someone on low HP, but a Talent saved the Skill test. The person who would've died on failure gets a chance to learn a trait of their savior.
Scenario 3: A Doctor's 'Life Saver' Talent causes this idea to activate.

Any brush with death will be a chance to mutate traits.
