So, I got into a fight with a smuggler that I didn't want to destroy and encountered a couple bugs in boarding attacks. The first bug was that after the first two boardings, all subsequent boardings skipped crew combat and went directly to the sabotage/decimate screen. The second bug is that sabotage seems to have a chance to target components that are already 100% destroyed.
Because I couldn't kill the crew, and my boarders kept damaging things that were already destroyed, it took me 16 turns for my boarders to get lucky and damage the void engine.

resistor - were you boarding with a Talent or at range 1 and a move command? Thanks, #STF-3718

I was boarding with a Talent the first two times, and the rest was boarding at range 1. I guess that must be related to why I only got crew combat with the first 2.

Fixed a major bug that resulted in combat victory not being assigned correctly after the crew was eliminated in boarding actions. Pirates, take a buff
