Is there a way of actively attracting Xeno ships when there are no active rumours or you are in a quadrant/system not covered by an active rumour? In AoP Gold and Magic Users would attract the attentions of Kraken and Ice Demons; so if I stock enough Xeno Artifacts can I lure Xeno ships to my position?

It was like that in STRPG. Don't think it's like that currently in Frontiers. If not, it might be added later.
Can someone confirm?

Just anecdotal evidence here, but when I had an explorer a while back I was often flying around with loads of artifacts (sometimes 60 at a time). I never noticed any increased encounters with xeno though. In fact I don't think I ever had an encounter while transporting them.

#STF-3785 to make traveling with artifacts in the hold more dangerous.

I'm of two minds about attracting Xeno ships. I like the idea but there are downside for someone being able to do this type of trick.
1) Whats to stop one faction from trying to attract xenos to attack another factions planet or base.
2) I for one think the xenos ships should be so dangerous that the last thing you want to think about is getting their attention, This also means I think the reward for taking a Xeno ship down should be huge. I'm hoping there will be a variety of xeno types coming in the future.

As for Factions trying to lure Xeno to do their bidding, Templar Battleforce shows why trying to control Xeno is always a bad idea. Specifically, a trio of Skitterings has cannonically torn through about 200 people in an Exchange before they could be killed by FDF troopers.

Great comments @starfaller. There was discussion a bit ago regarding the potential to locate (or attract) Xeno for 'xeno hunters'. Lots of discussion on utilizing rumors to locate Xeno locations (wilderness areas or sectors) with a more active rumor mechanic (perhaps even talents to specifically uncover rumors that are Xeno related). And the possibility of carrying Xeno artifacts to (inadvertently or not) attract Xeno ships or attacks in wilderness zones.
Mechanics and balancing are key of course, but agree that unless you have a ship/crew trained to deal with Xeno (there is already one talent specifically for xeno crew battle), you shouldn't WANT to do anything to attract their attention. Will be great to see what all of the feedback and ideas turn into as the game develops!

Got an idea that might help those of us who love this game but don't know the full history. I think STF needs an index it can be short but something that fleshes out the lore of the world, in other words putting some meat on its bones. As someone who plays a Exo-scout I would love to see a section covering the different Xenos even if it was some thing you had to go out into the wilds to find and bring that knowledge back to sell or for your faction.
A 3 to 200 body count sounds about right for bringing terror to the masses. Pay your taxes or we cant protect you from the filthy Xenos. Knowing this now makes me think of Exo-scouts as an almost suicidal bunch of spec op types. I would love to see lore build around this class to answer some interesting questions like how do you get trained to hunt Xenos and where? Does each faction do its own training, or are they all trained from a specialized school somewhere out in the wilderness. I think it would make for an outstanding novel to see someone go through that training.
Would be great to see a race of chameleon type Xenos infiltrating the worlds of STF. I'm going to flesh this idea out more under the story arc post I started.

I don't think there are any Xeno that can conceal themselves like that. Xeno invasions tend to be a single Xeno ship dropping spore pods onto the planetary surface, spawning the initial invasion force and allowing for creep to start growing.
A great place to see how the Xe o operate is Templar Battleforce

My understanding of xeno "infiltration" is that it happens through their power to corrupt human minds which leads to the establishment of xeno cults. Who may shelter or incubate a xeno presence on a world. This sheltering, or potentially calling to the xeno may eventually lead to actual attacks by xeno on populated human centers. @starfaller you should really pick up a copy of Templar Battleforce if you want to see how it works. You'll get a lot more background and a great turn based tactical combat game to boot.

I bought Templar BF but not sure when I will play it since I'm loving STF. I'm hoping the Devs put predatory animals or beasts or hostile plant life in the encounters when out in the wild. I also think with such a large universe there have to be more than just the killing machine type of aliens. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the St met and wanted to trade with an alien civs outpost On the one hand you might have a some that want to open different levels of trade while others would want not trade and maybe war. That would be interesting. The lore for me is a great starting point but I think this Game can really grow.
