"If you surrender, you'll be at the mercy of a hostile captain."
If you just write that, then death is, by default, included among the things that may befall you if you surrender.
"If you surrender, you'll be at the mercy of a hostile captain. He may seize your cargo, your guest, or your prisoner." (I paraphrase.)
If you write that, then death is not included among the things that may befall you if you surrender. So when you get executed, as happened to one of my long-lasting captains, it leaves a sour taste. Either death should be mentioned as a possibility, or the game should just say "If you surrender, you'll be at the mercy of a hostile captain" and not provide a partial list of what might befall you.
