Normally completing missions is the best way to quickly raise your reputation with contacts.
Even more so if you are using the Upstaged Success, and Trader's Reciprocity talents.
The higher your reputation with a contact, the more services you can acquire.

What about contacts that don't offer missions? How can you quickly raise your positive
reputation? That's were the Merchant's new Cordial Invitation talent comes in.
When buying an introduction. Your new contact will start with a positive reputation
equal to the Merchant's Negotiation skill.
At rank(11) the Merchant has a Negotiate skill of +9.
The majority of contacts require reputation equal to or greater than 10 before offering you a service.
This can be raised a number of ways.
I routinely add +10 Negotiate skill, when creating a new template. This gives a new Merchant Captain
the ability to use contact services immediately after purchasing the NMC.
NMC is an acronym I'm using for "no-mission contacts".
It's important to be aware of any contact's "Connections" to find out who their friends, and enemies are.
Just click on the contact's portrait to find out just about everything, except currently hidden traits.
Taking missions from contacts that offer them, can indirectly help your NMC's friends, or harm their enemies.
You work hard to build rep with any contact, don't blow it by running missions against their interests
The cost of using any contact service is deducted from the total contact reputation. You can't expect
contacts to give without getting something in return. When your reputation falls below ten
you get nothing until providing them a service. "Quid pro quo agent Starling." Where did I leave my nice Chianti?
The majority of NMC's buy intelligence records. The total rep you acquire with NMCs will be small.
Selling them intelligence records is the quickest way to offset losing access to services.
Pairing a Spy officer with a Merchant Captain makes it much easier to maintain access to NMC services.
With talents like Data Haul, your spy will quickly create a large stockpile of intelligence records to sell.
Selling records will often help one person in a quadrant and harm another. This an important
reason to keep track of the NMC's connections display. You can see all your contacts
by using the Keyboard hot key "C". Click on a portrait, see the stats.

Here's a list of contacts that don't offer missions. These are the ones you want to
buy introductions too. Pay attention Cordial Invitation has a 3 week cool down.
