Samsung S7, latest Droid build, game version 2.1.15
Hard to lock down exactly what causes this, but upon loading a Captain or starting the game while on the map, then moving around, the engine audio refuses to stop.
This causes it to run constantly in the background, even when the ship is stopped, I'm in orbit, planetside... the sound persists when I exit the game but don't close the app, so that it runs even when the game isn't my active app.
Turning off audio then turning it back on again doesn't help.
Happens pretty consistently, so I have to keep reloading until it doesn't happen.
If it doesn't happen on the first ship movement, it doesn't happen again until I restart and the issue arises.
Hope any of this is helpful, if you need more info I'm happy to keep testing it, but it's like 75% of the time so it shouldn't be too hard to reproduce (I hope)

I would expect you get this with all of our games then?
We don't have this on any of our devices, so its likely a hardware config problem. Definitely interested to hear if other players have it and on which devices.

LG GFlex 2 user here v 2.1.15
I can confirm this audio issue. I have not had this issue with any previous alpha builds on my device before.
I can confirm the persistent Engine Audio bug. I just took a job and jumped. No issues in the quadrant flying between zones, but as soon as I got close to and went through gate, it continued to stay on. Moving back to main menu did not resolve and I had to FC the app to kill the audio loop. I have also confirmed this with a fresh reboot and cache clean to be sure. It is still persistent.
Do you need additional hardware information?

LordofSyn - yes, as always version of Android is top detail. Thanks for the feedback. Nothing about audio changed in the last release, unfortunately. Did you both recently receive a new version of Android OS from your carrier?

Yeah, the Android SoundPool system is utter garbage. We may or may not be able to support an engine sound on Android, we'll definitely be looking at it during the mobile port. Right now, if you have that hardware bug just mute SFX. You can get the same bug on some Android OS builds and firmware combinations with almost every game on the market, not to mention Templar Battleforce. We've reported Google a half-dozen times, they are never going to fix it.

You probably expected it, but I just wanted to note that the problem still persists in Android release 2.2.13 (121)
Symptoms very similar to what others have noted. My phone info is in my signature. It's not too big a nuisance since the engine volume is much lower than other sound effects so I can keep general volume low and mentally tune it out, but it does continue to drain my battery if I leave the game running while phone is idle (e.g. when I need to walk or switch trains during commute).
Oddly enough, I have noticed that if I initiate a card game while in orbit, it will stop the engine sound. Of course, it comes back once I start flying again, but perhaps this is a clue to a potential solution. Maybe the card-dealing sound effect overwrites or interrupts the persistent engine sound effect? Is it possible to specify on the Android release only, that whenever the engine sound is meant to stop (orbit, ship encounter, etc), that the system plays some zero-bit sound file? Notably, the refueling and paying crew sound effects don't interrupt the engine sound, so I'm not sure what the difference is...

sorry to hear that. we hope to be able to fix it when we start working on the mobile port.
either that or we won't have engine sounds for Android phones.
