Add that to the wish list: the possibility to have the members of your crew face off against one another, with all damages being negated at the end of the fight. This training would allow the player to try plenty of combos in a non-lethal situation. Right now, since I have to risk the lives of my characters each time they fight, I stick to safe combos and never get to try "this wacky idea that just might work."

It's not a bad idea, but I don't know if it will be worth it in terms of time investment for the TBs, especially in the immediate future. In the meantime, there are other options, like making some burner captains on lower difficulty levels to try some different things. Then there's also the possibility of conscripting fighters from other ships to try different things with and lastly there's always the possibility of exploring for Scavenger fights. They're normally pretty tame. SCIENCE is no fun without live mice!

We see and talk to tons of players who are doing this and having a blast, often finding that their craziest ideas work! While we could add a training mode to the game, it would be a major distraction from the real work of the roadmap atm.

Burner captains only work for low-level talents and the most common fighting types. But yeah, my idea would be a lot of work, and there's so much to do already! Well. Too bad.

Custom difficulty, no permadeath and max XP boost. That's how players are doing this today, lots of ppl doing it for practice.
