What do people think about unlockable content? Are there any plans to put this into the game?
I really like it when games unlock items that you can use in future play-throughs.
I like the idea that Impossible is pretty impossible, but could be helped by completing side-quests and story content on earlier difficulties.
For example completing a particular side-quest on normal would award you an achievement and an extra 500 credits for future playthroughs - this could be scaled up and by completing the same quest on Impossible would give you a total of 1000 extra credits for future runs.
Likewise other achievements could give you a rare weapon, an extra skin, a unique small ship to choose at the start, a special officer that can be picked at the start. All scaled slightly depending on what difficulty you completed the achievement on.
None of these items should be game-breaking. Just extra bonuses that could marginally swing the tide in your favour to move up difficulties, and give good reason for multiple play-throughs.
Obviously not high-priority for the current road-map, but just thought I'd suggest it now, as it's something I really like to encourage multiple playthroughs.

Thanks. I'd really like something along these lines in the finished version. Looking forward to see how it all develops. Curious if any other players like these type of features?

I sure hope that they will be implemented later. One of the only support IAPs I never purchased was the unlock all rewards. Imho that is bragging rights. Edit. What I failed to say was that reaching those conditions to unlock those rewards is part of that reward. The challenge rewards are worth their bragging rights.

Sorry, what are "IAPs"? "One of the only support IAPs I never purchased"

IAPs are in-app purchases. So things you pay for in a game with real world money, whether or not you had originally paid for the game itself. I'm guessing a significant portion of STF players had originally played Star Traders RPG Elite, the predecessor to STF. STRPG had probably more than two dozen different achievements, and depending on the difficulty of the criteria, each would unlock something. New starting ships, ship upgrade options, Captain job options, bonus starting money or exp, etc. In STRPG, I believe the vast majority of unlocks can be achieved by the dedicated player just playing the game attempting different challenges, at no cost. There was a paid option to "Unlock all rewards" if you wanted to bypass that and just get all the reward options upfront. The two other IAPs were custom ship designer and custom captain designer, which were very cool, but still needed to fit strict gameworld criteria so wouldn't give you an overt advantage over the non-payer experience. What you are suggesting, Aesop, pretty much fits the bill for TB Games.

If those credits were really needed as progression towards more difficult challenges by all means(thinking of WoW tier gear model towards progression). Imo "STF Driven" players won't need this otherwise.
