I get a little frustrated when I start a new captain on SFT, there are a fair few storylines to take and as I enjoy the content I want to experience as much as I can on each playthrough. Broadly speaking I'd really like to know what combinations of missions you can take in Prince Calagan's court so I can focus on a thread each time.
I think Valencia/Erik and Zette are mutually exclusive. So if I plan to play through with Erik, there's no point me trying to do anything with Valencia or Zette atall. So when I go through the dialogue I should sack Zette and Valencia off when they ask for my help. I think Calagan and Estelle missions can be done with any of these characters. So right from the start i should be letting down 2 of Val, Zette and Erik.
Would there be any story content I'm missing by letting them down and just concentrating right from the start on:
1. Valencia, Estelle and Calagan 2. Aunty Zette, Estelle and Calagan Or; 3. Erik, Estelle and Calagan
I limit myself on playtime and too much of my game is spent chasing too many threads down to check out the content. A broad outline of the best way to handle these would be appreciated.

Nope looks good. There are subtleties to the mutually exclusive statement that you didn't include, but it isn't worth dragging it out for what you are asking.

I've been doing the story again. I was planning to do Val's branch, but thought I'd do some missions for Erik and Auntie as well. Erik cut me out fairly soon, not sure which mission made him do this (I think he said staying loyal to Val). After that I spoke to Val in court, she said she'd cut me out, but I still had a mission with her. I completed her mission and she talked to me again, but then Auntie Zette cut me out. So Val wouldn't speak to me because I was following her Aunt's "mad theory", but didn't take the mission away from me, then spoke to me again and Zette cut me out.
I think the story aspect and missions attached are brilliant. It's just the first bit deciding what to do feels a little out of control. I don't know when exactly a character's going to cut me off. So the NPCs are in a way deciding for me (by cutting me off) who I'm going to help.
I guess I'd prefer a hard choice early on who I'm going to help. Maybe one of my officers says: "All 3 Faen's are looking for help. Their divergent motivations make it unlikely that they'd confide any information if you're actively involved with another. We must choose who we're going to help... if any." You can then make a hard choice there and let the subtleties play out afterwards.
I'm sure I'm getting a little hung up on it for your liking, but it's one of the best aspects of the game for me.
Another one I had was the unique sword weapon. This was a while ago. I think my officer said I could keep it or hand it back. I thought I'd keep it, but went to talk to the quest-giver to finish the quest, assuming I could mae a decision not to hand the sword over. I ended up having to hand the sword over. I don't think there was an option to actually tell him I didn't find it, or that I was keeping it.

Aesop - it sounds like there may be a bug with Val cutting you off but leaving a mission on? Any idea which one? I can see some officer pre-warning would help. Also, its on the list to improve the pre-warning when you are about to take an action that would result in a cut. You can only keep the sword and complete the mission if you have the Void-Sextant from the second mission.

I've played quite a bit further, but can send the file in if you want? Bit embarrassing though because my ship just got smashed by a pirate while on a mission.
No need to do anything with it or send it back btw!
I think some pre-warning and the ability to directly make the choice would be a great, there are many subtleties that happen after that anyway.
I really enjoy the game, which is why I bother writing things down that I think may be a little off. It's only in early access and could pass as complete. Can't wait for the final version.
