Hi, I think i spotted an important issue (as it allowed me to drive a 12 max crew ship with 18 crew). It look like something is not actualized as it should when you customize a ship in dry dock.
BUG 1:
I have a ship (18/18 crew). A buy a new one (24 crew cap). I go to dry dock and launch this ship, so i'm at 18/24 crew. I go to dry dock again. I click customize on the old ship and reduce its crew cap to 12 with the proper component. I click back to return to dry dock screen. I can still launch the ship ! Now i'm flying a 18/12 crew ship. (see image: drive.google.com/open?id=1ynGLbuKbWVEKS4nnmHz0E0otxOJdR_YI )
BUG 2: I buy a ship. I go in dry dock to see. I can't launch it cause it lack one passenger slot. So I buy one passenger slot (via "customize")
I press back so i'm at dry dock main screen. But i still can't launch the ship (0/0 passenger) !
I go back in "customize" to check my components, click here and there, and go back to dry dock screen. Now i can launch it, things have been properly actualized.
Those bug seems to reliate on the same issue.
If it helps: i'm on steam, windows 10 updated, i5 ivy bridge, gtx1060.
Good luck, And thanks for the game i really enjoy it !
PS: the idea that lead me to find this, is that i wanted to have different ships (one for fighting, one for merchandising, for example). But i lacked info about how the crew are handled between ships. For what i understand now, i can't have a 24 crew ship and a 30 crew ship, and use them at full potential because my 30 crew won't go back in the 24 crew ship.

The idea is correct, you'd have to dismiss a certain number of Crew to go back down to 24. Those Crew will want to find new jobs on another ship.
