I think there should be a large slot officer cabin component. However, to make the slots not entirely fungible, I think the large slot should have an unusual drawback: Reduced morale gain when paying officers:
Component Name: Officer Deck
Mass: 565
Effects: Quarters for 4 Officers, -50% Morale restoration from officer salary payments
Cost: 112k credits
The idea here is that officers really do prefer their individual space and that while there's the same amount of space in a large slot divided by 4, there's still less privacy. It would offset the advantage of replacing four officer cabins with four pilot 4 modules a bit. Further, I'd suggest NOT having a variant that increases shields or armor to keep that advantage limited to small/medium officer components. Also, note that this is slightly more mass than 2x the medium officer component. It is just another tiny drawback to make the other options competitive still.
