Just food for thought. Aside from contact impact, what other ramifications can be had for factions following a win/loss of a conflict... and what potential benefits are there for Star Trader Captains?
Only one example, but the concept is that following an outcome of a conflict, there is a more likely chance that xx rumor/situation happens.
And the narcissistic view of the world with the current rules: "Thulun and Cadar have a Trade Ban. I'm Steel Song, and even tho I have contacts and a Level 3 permit with both, who cares. I'll just ignore both for now"
Anyway, just 2 cents for thinking of using conflicts as a 'tip off' of potential opportunities for the player to explore following and end to the variety of conflict types; and to perhaps act on the potential opportunity while the conflict is happening.

- Suppose that Thulun wins a TRADE BAN agains Cadar. Within 3 months to 1 year there is a more likely chance that a Thulun Starport has a surplus. Conversely, a more likely chance that a Cadar Starport has shortage. Of course, this could have rules that the 'chance' could be impacted only with starports with high economy rating (or some other restriction/rule)
- I think it would keep players engaged with more conflicts and conflict resolutions (in this case, for those that have high trading permits in multiple factions)... "If Thulun wins, I need to travel to the economically strong landing zones I know of to get cheap goods" and "oh goodie, I also have a Level 4 permit with Cadar to sell these goods at a great profit, let me find some Cadar landing zones with high economic ratings, they might have a shortage"
- Or, for those thinking ahead, "I'd better work with my Thulun and/or Cadar contacts to get higher trade permits to take advantage of when the conflict ends"
- Of course, there would be similar 'opportunities' for resolution of other conflict types, similar rules (+ chance of mercenaries/assassin/pirate recruits following War of Assassin conflict resolution (on both sides) for example)
