As promissed my ideas for your consideration to hopefully improve the game based on my limited time with it, leave you in peace now.
1) Add hard setting with the option to have 4 save slots - gives unlocks for normal only though.
Reason once get to grips want to up the challenge and play the game through but still need to learn how things work, takes a while.
Auto save when you buy a new ship on hard plus levels would be nice.
Currently custom setting the game to brutal apart from death so get saves does not seem to give unlocks despite being harder than normal.
2) Chief Ship Architect Contact add service Ship Design for 10,000
Allows you to design your ship layout and produce a plan.
Just use current ship purchase and refit screens but ignore costs so can fit what you want.
When you buy the ship from a shipyard of the same faction they will carry out the refit to your plan in 10% less time.
Could have option to export your design as an image or component list if above to complex, start a ship design tread in the forum and people could upload them.
Little game all on its own here designing your dream ship.
3) A symbol on some of the storyline mission tabs would be nice to easily differentiate, talking about ones that hang around for a long time like high wind case.
4) Love the diffrent trading options, varied simple but elegant. Would however like to see Economy & Population on planet pop up so can guess stock levels.
Rare Trade Goods are to powerfull however so some thoughts on
As now but costs a decent amount of rep to access each time - do missions for the contact or lose their trust & supply dries up.
or combine with black market in some way that makes smuggling more valid.
Options need high access to see if they stock any, if do always sell that product at a higher price than they buy it for.
or
They tell you where there supplier is wilderness stash within 5 jumps, makes riskier as might have to pass through enemy sector with illegal cargo.
Level of access and card could modify jump range to stash. pay when pick up or contact?
or
as above but gain access to play card game as pirate or smuggler, extra cards if trying as pirate? Win get location without paying or at reduced price.
Lose heavy rep penalty with contact or ground combat with his thugs, lost time with the authorities even a bounty on your head.
if succeed mission to the location go blockade and or crew combat to get the goods.
Not worked out but may be a way to fit diffrent command styles in.
5) Option to toggle some tallents on and off if use the same event to trigger Merchant $5000 trade are obvious candidates.
6) Difficulty AI scaling not sure how thi works think its linear game increase in difficulty at a steady rate. Fast start and the AI captains never catch up.
Perhaps after first few years when your captain levels up have them adjust accordingly. May do already I am guessing.
Other option is in my view the issue is you can build ships that are to good at doddging, people run ships without weapons & board because of this.
Adjust dodge/to hit mechanic so AI lands more shots.
