Why would indy inspectors take all cargo? I just lost a hold full of steel song refined spice and indy gas processors...
Afaik, there is no way to get indy permits, making it a guaranteed loss?

There should never be a reason where you have to submit to an Indy. Just retreat from them.
Did you have trade permits for what you did have or were they Black Market?

Indie do not honor trade permits. They don't honor them in the Exchange and their military officers don't honor them in the void. Consider that a Indie military officer basically serves a local indie warlord. They would definitely like that Spice and the Gas Processors, and don't care that you legally bought them from Steel Song.
Indies have some great advantages and some places where they are more disadvantageous.

I live in the developing world and this type of stuff is super typical. It doesn't matter that it is practically impossible to get the paper that you need here. We will still hold you responsible for not having the trade permit that we don't offer.
