When doing certain missions where you blockade/patrol to find a ship like the Hunna quest for Mok to gain their assistance for the Arbiter, you cannot use Flash Charge. That's pretty annoying when you built your strategy around that talent. It's also a bit of a flavor fail. "Hey, you're seeing that smuggler over there we EXPECTED and NEED to catch to get our money?" "Yes, why?" "Let's start at 5 range so that they got a fair shot at escaping."

I've been meaning to suggest this as well. It's like the mission stuff is blocking the use of flash charge

Yes, sometimes story combats go directly to combat without an encounter screen or options.

It's not just stories though. It's every mission that generates ship combat.

Interesting. This setup was developed before Flash Charge existed and saved the player a series of clicks and delays. I'll take a look and see if there is some way we can add Flash Charge as a mission option. It would be a real sad thing to force every player ever through encounter screen again.
