When you use Thrown Wrench these days it states it also does a little side-effect damage to a component. However, it fails to use the current damaged state of the component in its display message. So it generally states something like "...and deals 8% damage to the Splorgerfungle which is now 8% damaged" However, the Splorgerfungle has been damaged before and definitely wasn't repaired back to 0% damage. I think you're missing the addition of current damage.
If the Splorgerfungle is 40% damaged it should display "which is now 48% damaged".

Sorry, checked this and Splorgerfungle was definitely undamaged. The text display shows <damage dealt> <name> <final component damage>
