"Parting Gift" bug in ship battle

The situation was during a normal ship battle--I boarded at range 1 while the other ship had launched a single bomber at me and it moved to the second phase of the attack pattern (moving into my ship's area). I won the boarding battle, and for my 2 penalties inflicted: panicked the crew and used the parting shot ability that instantly kills an enemy crew.

That crew was a Wing Bomber. Apparently the only one, though I assumed this was a backup crew before...

Returning to ship screen, I find that the bomber vanished below my ship! I guess that means the craft autodocked itself without a pilot, because the pilot died, but that gave some wonderful imagery of how skilled my sniper was.

@tiriun - thank you very much for that special bug report. This is likely the cause of the few final and very hard to explain crashes and issues we see reported on craft.

I never knew those were connected to bugs! My game continued as normal afterwards for years (I was able to note that crew killing abilities like the assassin's also target Wing crewmembers, but the next rarest time that happened was when all craft were docked after trying to bomb my ship; I even saw some wing crew against me when I boarded the enemy!). Cheers in updating and working with it--it's been a gem for me and many others.

Follow-up: It appears you can engage at range 1 in boarding and down Wing Crew who are currently on an assault run on your ship. Like, I boarded the enemy at range 1 in the same turn as 2 of their bombers shifted to the 2nd phase of attack post-launch, they were both at the bottom of my ship when boarding combat commenced and I fought 2 wing bomber crew--after winning, those same 2 bombers vanished from my ship area tile.
