Running two ships with different crew sizes?

Hi all,

Playing on hard so I can't "save and go back" to test.

I'd like to upgrade and keep around a small ship alongside a Sword Battlecruiser, but not sure this will work because of crew/officer quarters?

What happens to the excess crew/officers if you step down from the sword into a ship with less space?

If you are stepping down in ship size, you must dismiss all the extras.

Something we'd like to improve in future iterations of the game.

Note that it won't even let you launch the ship until your crew, passengers, and prisoners all fit.

Cargo is another matter--if you don't dump that first, it gets stuck inside the old ship, which, now that I think about it, seems a bit inconsistent, but then physical cargo isn't mission-specific like passengers and prisoners are (and mission cargo does transfer over).

There is no cargo transfer at this time, missing feature. Use a Stash.
