Currently my primary weapon of choice for my AgentEX and his crew is the Raptor II. It has with its 6power, 6penetration, 3accuracy, 5range and 3AP its a hard combo to beat in my opinion. Recently however my AgentEX has been packing a Security Defender as a second weapon. The Security Defender matches the Raptor II for stats just gives up a couple of squares of range for higher rate of fire, very nice when those nasty dogs and big drones get up in your grill and a single round may not put them down.
What do you all think the best weapons are and why are they your favorites.

Speaking of close combat...why no knives or swords? Seems like both Yakashima and the Yakuza would go for some Katanas an could see Mars having a couple blades as well like a Roman style short sword or a broadsword. Clubs are okay for thugs and cyber claws are fine for those who can spare the DV, but some people would prefer a little more style in their maming of the riff raff.

My favourites are the Yakashima Shock Gloves, (for the mental damage and the multiple hits) and the Yakashima 251 Bountry rifle - 2 shots and superior accuracy, plus decent damage. Once I get to be such a good shot that accuracy doesn't matter I want a Mars Corp Hunter Sight, for one more point of range and damage.

If I'm a cybersword Yakashima shock gloves and hand razors. Any thing else a combination of the Huntersight, Ares Gamma mk 3, and Yakashima gloves. Ive thought about trying a Bokmok, but the expences and unreliability don't warrent the purchase for damage.

Bokmok just makes enemy armor pretty much irrelevant for the current monster list, which is why I like it

Tried it.12 penetration and high firearms does offset the accuracy problem a bit.

Hello All!
I love the Raptor II, my whole team has them. My AgentEx Ally has a pair of Raptors, my Hacker Ally is rolling with a Raptor and an AutoMag Cobra. Until recently my CK had a pair of Raptors as well.
I finally invested in an assault rifle, the HPX 59 by Mars Corp. It caught my eye because it has 9 penetration and 4 accuracy. Combined with a firearms skill of 11 I figured my CK would almost never miss. I've been doing assassination runs in Los V and Fennians, and I get a lot of "missed" and "armor save" when attacking gang leaders. I know they are the tough guys in these areas, but come on! I can kinda tolerate the misses, but with 9 penetration I should be blowing holes clean through these cheap-ass gangbangers!
My Raptors seemed equally effective despite having 1 less accuracy point and 3 less penetration. My CK is a Gunslinger, but i figured he would be proficient with any gun including assault rifles. Could my class be the problem?

Could my class be the problem? Are you sticking with optimal range shots? 4 accuracy will degrade quickly outside of optimal ranges.

I have the Image Magnification implant, so the pink squares extend out to the edge of my range with the rifle. I assumed the pink squares indicated my optimum range. The rifle actually isn't that bad, I've just had instances when my target was a square or two away and my CK missed all 4 shots. After I posted I was thinking about drug side effects. My CK is a pretty big junkie, always jacked up on stims and such. I know they all have side effects, but I don't know what the effects are exactly. Could that be my issue? I guess it would be hard to aim a rifle when you are have tremors and blurred vision!

I guess it would be hard to aim a rifle when you are have tremors and blurred vision! There are no drug side-effects now. Planned for the future. Your problem is that you are trying to hit things 'a square or 2 away' with your rifle. You cannot aim your rifle very well at a short distance like that. It is possible, but not likely, that you will hit something. You want to move so your target is in the pink area, and then shoot him. You might buy a taser-glove or a handgun to handle the bad guys when they are up close. I don't know what rifle you are using, but if you are playing elite then go buy the mk251 bounty from Back bay Importers. (not from Boston Rifles where they have an inferior model.) It does decent damage, has speed 2, and has good accuracy (of 5). More accuracy means you are more likely to hit things even when not at your optimal range -- which is your problem as you describe it. Happy hunting! edit: also that image magnification thing you bought -- It doesn't give you a larger optimal range for your rifle. It just changes the optimal range to be one larger than what it was before. This isn't good if you are trying to use your rifle to kill people at a short distance. When it comes to figuring out if you hit something the game calculates the difference between 'what is optimal' and 'what you want'. It tosses this number into a formula and out pops the answer to the question 'did I hit it?'. You want this number to be low. It will be 0 when you are at your optimal range. And it uses the absolute value of the distance -- aiming for something that is one square closer than your optimal range and one square further away will both pop out the answer '1'. Therefore, by making your optimal range one larger you are making this number one larger when you try to kill something inside your optimal range. If you want to wear lenswear implants -- if only to keep the toxic pollution from rotting out your eyes -- consider going to Saytek's in Dorchester and buy the more expensive lenswear that gives you a +10% critical hit at optimal range instead.
