Pirate Problem

I don't know if this is a bug or just an unseen problen. Normally when you don't have a permit, pirates will be hostile toward you and loot your hold. There will also be text saying "you do not have a trade permit to protect you from their privateers". However, once you reach a certain rank (and/or rep, I don't know for sure) with a faction, pirates of that faction will not be hostile toward you, even if you don't have a permit. What's more is that it won't say that you don't have a permit to protect you from their privateers. But when you surreder, they still loot your hold. And even more crazy is after they do so, you don't lose morale. Can something be changed here, whether its the hostility, warning text or lootage?

Looks like it is working as designed -- don't see any reason to change it.

Makes sense. At that level of Rep they would fear the repercussions of attacking you more than legality. But if you let them walk all over you (press surrender button) they see no reason not to loot you.

Yeah, exactly my thoughts. And if you fight them, then take end-of-battle actions just like any other hostile ship.

The AI combat trees are designed to act like a Star Trader Captain with the appropriate Rank/Rep/Warrant would act -- Pirates carry Trade Permits and Death Warrants, so while they respect Rank they don't honor criminal actions from Faction members -- nor do they tolerate weakness (Surrendering.)

That sounds perfectly logical. My only request then is to have text saying you don't have a trade permit alwayes there, as opposed to it not being there after a certain rank. And losng morale when you get looted.
