Hi all, I noticed a new version on the store, and reading the description it sounds promising: Major Navigation Improvements Fixed D-Pad Bugs and Updates Made Navigation Easier in NBZ Made Navigation Easier in Tunnels I installed it, and at first sight everything feels pretty similar. Could you detail what are improvements we should expect, navigation-wise? I might just be nitpicking here, but I am always up for improved navigation Cheers, Paulo

A little annoyingly for myself, the D-pad seems to automaticly target the middle of the screen. A bit annoying when when where you want to move is directly in that direction. A good example is being on the south side of the wall in Boston Core and City Hall when trying to move east/west. Another is being in a corner square and liturally needing to move one square to swap zones and it wants you to move to the middle of the map side

Yurak - thanks for the feedback. We will keep working on improving it, and i bet we can iron out your specific complaint while still keeping all the major benefits. It will take some time, so we hope you can be patient with us!

If it is possible to go directly in whatever direction I pick, that is where I want to go. Personally, I could swap out all of the smarts about trying to find your way from here to the next zone for a D pad that always went directly in the 8 directions, walking around obstacles as necessary until it reached the edge of the zone or could go no further due to a barrier such as a wall or a water.

I agree with Grav. Getting around walls, esp Mars, AzTek & Yakashima core(s) and Downtown Gateway being some of the most problematic zones for me.

Cory changed the navigation stuff, and while it makes life in the Tunnels more pleasant, it has these current problems in the NBZ. Next release will do it differently, I predict. Right now íf you are at Frontline Medical Warehouse in Aztek Core, you cannot get to any other building (same as before) but you also cannot use the D-pad to move directly west to Mars Core like you used to. It's very irritating.

Thanks for understanding that we are in BETA and helping us by providing positive suggestions on how to keep moving forward. Thanks!

I played for hours and hours, found it to me a major improvement.
Sad you guys dislike it so much, maybe we'll roll it back. We'd loose the 3 days of work I put into it, but that's BETA I guess.
Thanks for the feedback!

How about holding the button for the new navigation code, just tap it for the old one. Not that I've used either much yet.

Another thing which has really cramped my style.
When you are a young cyberknight, too young to really want to spend time in KH land or Yakuza land, you may want to take the risk of a Job to the Lion and the Harpy. And what you did was to line yourself up in Old Kenmore. then use the D pad to go directly North so you would arrive just outside of the Lion and the Harpy Door. Duck in with your package, then when you step out you hit the D pad S arrow to run directly south to Old Kenmore. There is practically no chance for KH to have an encounter as there is only 1 non-border KH square for you to travel on.
Now you get send to the middle of the border between them, which means that there is ample opportunity for getting shot.
From my point of view, there is absolutely no benefit that you could ever give me in terms of navigating around obstacles that could ever offset the problem of 'I typed the D pad arrrow in a certain direction. It was possible to move in that direction. But instead I moved someplace else. ' I only want your find-the-path-by-threading-the-needle-around-the-holes-in-the-wall stuff to come alive if I am trying to continue in a direction where I cannot proceed any futher. So if I am south of the Wall in Boston Core and type N, then the game can assume that I want to continue going North on the other side of the wall, and then finding me the hole and moving me around and through it is fine. But right now the game doesn't consider that the E-W coordinate I was at when I pressed North was significant for me. So it thinks that moving me North but lined up with the middle of the screen would suit me fine. The problem is that instead, it doesn't suit at all. It would have if, once I got through the hole in the wall the game immediately tried to restore my old E-W coordinate system. For me it is infinitely easier to pause and change direction when I can see that my E-W was being preserved (on the rare case that I didn't want it, but wanted to stay north of the whole, because I know exactly where my sprite is going -- than it is for me to watch my sprite move and then curse and stop it because it is going due north though going around buildings and I don't want that. I confuse the 'going E/W to get around a building then I will continue going N of the centre' with 'going E/W to line me up where I was when I pressed N.' This gives a horrible sense that the game is out of control, and that your sprite moves according to its own will and not yours, precisely at a point where I want the most control.

From my play testing the navigation in the tunnels improved dramatically. I was constantly fighting with "lining up" around the tunnels entrances and exits.
Same with walls and edges -- I just want the game to do the logical thing -- if I press middle-west on the D-Pad the sprite walks to the middle-west.
If I press middle-west and i'm not lined up with the middle-west, the game should figure out where the best places is for middle west and take me to that location.
