In red sectors/independent space often? Over dead planets often? Carry artifacts? Far from sector (1,1) (top left corner of map) often? Destroy alien ships after defeating them and encounter alien within 26 turns after? In sectors with alien attacks rumor often? Low stealth? In hyperion denomic nebula often? Carry a lot of contraband (weapons, electronics)?

My first contact was somewhere between Rychart Prime and Baza then I was in a mix of red and green, but at least a few of the others were in green. Distances were all over the place. I had no artifacts and stealth was 110% of level. I was never over a dead planet and only carried weapons, around 20. I also had a vet officer. It was like once I killed that first one they just kept coming for me. I guess it's that whole 26 turns thing. It sort of snowballed. I also never paid attention to alien rumors. There were some.
From now on after I destroy an alien I'm staying in green sectors over an inhabited planet and away from rumors until the 26 turns is up.
P.S. I thought you'ld all be impressed that I was flying a Cadar Templar. I had an Inquistion in storage, but wasn't flying it to save gas. I should have gotten in after the first encounter.

Yes, is that what drew them in?

Did you have Ellen Ripley on board? She's a MAGNET for aliens.

Yes, is that what drew them in? He loves the Xenos and longs to do battle with them.

Yes, is that what drew them in? He loves the Xenos and longs to do battle with them. Loves? He loves aliens less than I love aliens, and I love aliens as much as slayarz loves Steel Song.

What's the story behind the "knife alien"? I've never seen one of those before.

The knife alien went straight from the invention of knives to interstellar flight. They skipped the development of ranged personal weapons altogether.

Bolllish Carrier is a nasty one. He's Quick/Fast, the AI loves to torp / advance / retreat / torp. He's usually hard to escape and quickly wears you down at long range.
