At least, maybe I'm not using it right.
I have my old device and new device. Old device, I go into the roster, then select "Cloud Backup". The device reports "Cloud backup services ARE available"
I watch patiently on new device, and no new characters are bought across. NOTE, the cloud restore did partially work because a backup from months ago was carried across (including awards!)
I uninstall ST on new device (clearing all data), then reinstall. Still no joy. Am I doing something wrong? Does there need to be an option for "Cloud Restore" on the new device?

It should come down on Install. Cloud Restore is controlled by Google OS. Do you see a Star Traders RPG backup in your Google Profile? www.google.com/dashboard/

I looked on the dashboard and didn't see a StarTraders backup. I'll uninstall, do a backup on the old phone, then reinstall and see if that helps. I still appreciate that some content came down and I don't have to start from scratch

Haha ... I tried a few other options and now all of a sudden, I have lost ALL my captains and achievements in the new device - old device is intact. Old device still says "Cloud backup services ARE available", but doesn't actually back up. This is where you say "You should have left things alone and at least had some progress made"

Cloud Restore is controlled by Google OS. This is one of the reasons we keep looking for our own solution, as the Google Feature seems to be notoriously unreliable.

I agree. Cloud backup has never worked for me in a year, between 2 devices and many ROMs. Titanium Backup and/or manual backups have been a far better bet.

I haven't rooted my phone - I'm a geek with an unrooted phone. how sad am I.
I'm guessing the TB Hub won't be finished for some time yet - I wonder if I can keep my old phone in storage until that time. I will miss Cpl Hicks and his team on TA though ... 192 battles and untold killed. It makes starting again seem daunting.

slayernz - can you keep the SD card or try to root that phone? Sorry, we aren't happy with the limitations we have now and wish we could rapidly provide a solution, but we have a lot of pots boiling. Cory and I will chat again on this one.

Hey Andrew, I know you're flat out with other things so I'm okay with waiting. I can definitely keep the SD card (have shifted the game to the SD card already.
I'll see if someone at work can assist me in the root.
