Are we going to see a series of bladed weapons? I so want a nano sword! Nano claymore (cyber sword class), nano katana (agent).

baldielocks - we are still working out how to add swords into the game, as they are outlawed in the NBZ. To get there, we first have to work our way through the system of weapon legality and concealed weapons. All in good time!

If we consider the slums akin to escape from New York, or novels, the residents would fabricate piercing and edged weapons. It would be a Sub culture. Raw materials smelted from building remains. Tempering done in back shops. The key would be concealment. Could knights with cyber torso have a special sheath on the back? Legs? We have the claws. Could there be a nech (nano mechanic) wizard that installs a forearm length blade? I can see it Being like a foil or rapier point. Spring loaded, retractable. For armor piercing power?

fallen I'm a little confused. I can wander about in very obvious and heavy, head to toe full body armor, toting a giant assault cannon and heavy assault rifle, but someone's worried about the legality of a big knife?

Conversation in Downtown Gateway Brave Star precinct lockerroom between. Lt. McNally dayshift patrol supervisor and Sgt. Oberstein nightshift Gateway Security Post watch commander.
"So Obiwan how was it last night out there?"
"Same ole boring drek most of the night Mac. You know the usual a Knight in a Hades Hardsuit with a Panther Cannon came in after creating a mess down in Roxbury. Couple of them Irish kids with them big drekin Shock Mauls headed back to Dorchester after tearing things up over at the Silver Silk. Another knight wearing a kraken suit and hauling one a them fancy Yakashima decks headed down towards Kate's after crashing the public term. You know the usual."
"Huh, yeah know what ya mean Obi, never any real excitement around here anymore, not like the old days."
"Well did have a little excitement just before relief time. Some chummer with one of them passes Texas likes giving out tried coming in carrying a sword. Can you believe that drek? Well I don't care who he does errands for, Mamma Oberstein's liebchen isn't having that drek on his watch! I mean someone could lose an eye or somethan ya know!"
"So how'd ya handle it?"
"You know the usual way, fired up all the heavy drones and rousted a couple tac teams. Shoulda seen it Mac, they lit that chummer up six ways from sunday, wasn't even enough left to feed the Hunds."
"Man you got all the luck, can't even catch a hyperpunk with a butter knife around here during the day..."

You can see that maker-effect in the bladed clubs that are for purchase around the NBZ. We will get to swords eventually, but we have other fish in the fry right now.

Wait swords are outlawed in the NBZ? *facepalm* I have a Cerberus character running around with a 'Narvidium Katana'. (Actually Gravling's bad boy) Then again "outlawed" probably means in those places where the law can be enforced. (I.E. Corporate sectors) rabid

One of the most prevalent nano-machine pollutants accumulates on almost anything the carries a sharp edge.
The "Thug Cutter" isn't sharp, it is just really a really hard dull hunk of metal.
CyberClaws are so effective because they withdraw into the human body which acts as a natural barrier against the nano pollution.
Swords are illegal and highly regulated due to a strong prejudice against the Yakuza -- but for practical reasons, few NBZ residents cared when the laws were passed.

well sharp sticks aside [thats one idea, have a shop that sells swords that break after awhile but are good if someone wants to use it and has the right skill set] a Great sword or kitana, etc would have to be forged by someone who knew what they were doing, not any old gun shop in the NBZ. If you had a high achieved a high enough rep with the Yakuza [perhaps very high] and maybe high rep with some others, you could potentially unlock a side mission to get a particular hidden NPC in a Yakuza area to forge a sword for you. That would be cool.
