You mean new combat updates? They'll be more in some future release eventually

Ah ... so something different to "guns" and "torpedoes".
Unfortunately the game engine and design is restrictive, and adding new types of weapons is beyond the scope of possibility for ST1. There is still some hope for ST2 ... but sadly that project is well down the to do list of the TB's.

I mean a new kind of ammo it doesn't seem like there's more to add. You already have your long range ranged weapon (torp), your short range ranged weapon (gun), your hand to hand combat option/ zero range combat option (board), and your direct ship to ship combat option (ram). In terms of game balance, what more would there be? I guess you can add in a medium range ranged weapon but I think gun already has that covered. Maybe a self destruct option with escape shuttle upgrade, to prevent imprisonment or if it's a faction that'll execute you, guarantee escape?

Railguns! Gauss Rifles! Gyrojet Cannon! Mass Drivers! Charge Guns! All would be examples of a vessel's ballistic payload. You don't deal with near as much waste heat and ballistic damage is far harder to prevent than thermal, which by their very natures a ship's hull has to deal with through normal re-entry maneuvers. Gets HOT man.

I'm sick of space scifi settings where ships are armed with projectile weapons exclusively. I don't mind some ship projectile weapons other then torpedoes and missiles but give me some nice lasers, plasma cannons, ion beams, or particle arrays as well please.

Either that or the barrage shells are so easy to manufacture that they can be produce on-the-fly from passing asteroids. Or, you know, annoying crewmates Welcome to the forums, by the way, rogueaegisMy other theory is that 'Barrage Guns' is a catch all for this sort of weaponry. Happy birthday ST!
