Ever since the auto-resume of travel after encounters has been implemented, I feel there is a glitch in the way movement is done after an encounter.
I know that if you click on "Ignore" it's like "Retreat" (but more soothing on the ego for us Cadarians). My understanding is that with Ignore, your movement goes back to the sector you were on prior to the encounter.
Eg If you move from (0,0) to (0,4) and have an encounter at (0,1), an "Ignore" action causes you to move back to (0,0). Auto-resume then makes you move back to (0,1) where you could have another encounter.
However, I have discovered that even if you choose "Acknowledge, you still end up being moved back to (0,0) after your encounter, causing the possibility of repeating (0,1) multiple times.
I've found that I can get up to 3 or 4 encounters on one sector, even if I "Acknowledge".
So in summary, if I acknowledge, I expect to move onto (0,1) without further incident. I understand that I could then have an encounter on (0,2), and so-on.
